Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
sup my name is Dencho
question 1: i have 2 other friends (Bobby and Kyle) that i go longboarding with evry day...i mean evry day...we skate 3-4 miles and are always learning new stuff but im not posting this to tell u that. my question is that would is be ok if i post for them? i can do one big post for all 3 of us as a group or if u want i can do a post for each of us along with a video for each of us. im asking you think becouse well one of my friends is a bit camera shy and another doesnt really own a computer.
question 2: ive been reading about this competition and i read somewhere that the competition is only open til july 4th and that the winner is announced on july 11th. but then i read somewhere that its untill august 31st and the winner is announced on the 5th or sept. with date line is correct?
question 3: does the video have to be over 90 secs or under? and if we can post for more then one person say im posting for 2 other people can the video be 270 seconds long (90secs x 3) each 90 seconds will show one of us and our dis. or do i make 3 different 90 sec videos?
question 4: whats the age range? is there one?
question 5: how skilled do we have to be skilled enough to stand on a longboard and push or skilled enough to do shuvits and stuff
question 6: are we alowed to edit the video. like put some cool effect make it funny with some titles?
reguarding to question one the reason i ask that is becouse i think it would be fun for me and my friends to do together that is...if we won and got to test the board we would have a great time.i can skate alone but it get seriously boring and someone said that this contest is supposed to be fun...whats more fun then testing a new board with your friends?
those are all my questions. just so u know i will be entering just as soon as i get enough footage
sorry for posting so much it must be a hassle to read all of this. thanx!

Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
A little about the board shown in the picture.
I built this board as a pool or park board. The nose, tail and middle of the deck, on the bottom all have some concave, whereas the top of the deck looks much like a regular pool board. The concaves makes for good handholds. The shape of the bottom is completely different than the top of the deck. The middle section of the deck, on the bottom, is around 3/16" thick.
Length 32"
Width 8 3/4"
Concave 3/8
Truck mount thickness 7/16"

Get your friends to join the Fish, you do the video taping for them and give them a hand to do the posting. This would work the best and they get the added benefit of joining our great community. Remember about writing the 3 paragraphs why you would make a good Beta Board tester

The dates are properly listed on the Front Page of the Fish. August 31 would be the deadline.

Each of you have to have a separate video, up to 90 seconds long.
question 4: whats the age range? is there one?
Any age!
question 5: how skilled do we have to be skilled enough to stand on a longboard and push or skilled enough to do shuvits and stuff
Any skill level!
question 6: are we alowed to edit the video. like put some cool effect make it funny with some titles?
Sounds good to me!

Your guys can work together to test the board if any of you are the winner or winners, sounds fine to me and would be a lot of fun in my books!

Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
I'm pretty interested in these. I wish I could see one in person. Maybe I'll come up with a video for the old and slow discipline.
Do you have an idea of what your selling price for these will be when you get them in production? Or is there going to be a roarockit kit with carbon in it?

Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
I just finished an amazing solid wood, 4 pound, drop board using the same process. Looking at the two decks I have built so far, I think a better name for the process should be called PINCH, instead of Constant Layer CL.

Come on! I want to see that video for the Old and Slow..... Love to have you win one of these decks.
I have been working on a tutorial that will get posted after the contest is wrapped up on the Roarockit blog that will show how to build one of these decks. Winning one for now will be the only way to get a hold of one of these decks.

I'll see what I can do. I'm in serious need of a new deck. I have been trying to locate some uncut blanks since my molds are longboard and old school and I want to save my veneer for that, but I might just build a double kick new school mold as that's what sort of deck I want now. I'll be really interested to see that tutorial, I'd love to win a deck and be a board tester but I'd be real into making boards with new materials as well.

PS: Can the video be a slideshow of stills? I'm in that profession, I don't do much video.

Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
Too bad for those of us who don't own video cameras.
How is this board different than, say, an SMA composite deck? (athough from what I've owned of those, they don't appear to be carbon fiber, but rather a black fiberglass)
I owned a street board by SMA - it took abuse and held up well. I never broke it, never chipped it - but the composite layer on top started to delam from the wood core (which is 5 plies of Maple on those boards). That was my skatepark board - I teach lessons to kids, and visit there often too. It's fun being my age and being able to show up most of the young 'uns still.
Are you making a street board version too? Or is this more of a flex-optimized board - slalom/racing? Or a cruiser with some benefits to the cruisee?
I guess what I'm asking is - what's the purpose (I got the "stronger and lighter" from the front page, but everyone says that)?
The boards look sexy, based on the pic on the front page - are those integrated risers? How come?
-
Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
I just saw the description stating that it's a different shape on top than on bottom... which implies that it's not a wood core?

Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
Picked up the materials today Ted - thank you.
Getting started on what we talked about.
Having fun with the Kevlar but was a little concerned when a few yards of carbon decided to take a flier during shipment - finally came in today.
Later,
Brian

Re: Beta Board Testers Wanted!
So yall are making boards other than like street style short boards right? Cause I would need a longer flater board to properly ride.

Can you guys re-post your video's and comments on why you want to be a tester here:
http://www.silverfishlongboarding.co...ry-thread.html
Thanks Guys
geolemon
We would love to make a street deck using this method.
No foam in the decks I have shown but Brian has a trick up his sleeve for the deck he is designing using CL. (PINCH)
Cam 75
I think a still slide show would be OK.
Here is another teaser! New drop board
Weight; 4 pounds
Material; seven layer of maple veneer, carbon fiber top and bottom.
Graphics; Roarockit....Brian's rice paper method
This deck is a replica of the stealth deck I made for my Drop Deck Tutorial. It is around 1.5 pounds lighter than that deck.
