I think they missed that by about 10 years. Roger decoster really started coming to the forefront, as an icon, in the early 70's. I had always attributed this region of the country around 76 for BMX. However west coast would have been about 2-3 years prior (73ish).
the 60's bicycle craze was more associated drag racing and the rising popularity of the front engined dragsters and altereds.
On the bmx front, I still have a Webco.

My comments represent a selfishly one sided 1970's skateboarder mindset, and do not reflect the current fashion-skate-lifestyle industry's views.
