What are you talking about? My laptop is over 4 years old,NOT CORE 2 DUO like his, it handles HD video just fine and I edit .mov non standard (non .mts non avchdlite files) in premiere pro 3.0 without issue.
Raid 0 is fine and dandy but ultimately the CPU is the limiting factor in frame processing...(that rendering time is your CPU rendering those frames...the HD is not usually maxed out at that point)
And todays laptops come with 7200rpm (mine is 5400!)
