Default A Brief Look at HerbN's creations...

Finally stumbled upon Hugh R.'s pages filled with pictures of Herb's trucks and boards and jigs and machinery...

Awesome stuff to look at... check out all the pages...

Soon I'll be going to the shop and taking new better pictures of all of the new boards, new trucks and even the old stuff... But for now, this will have to satisfy you...

Dude, this link has been posted at least 5 times.

It's also old and outdated. He didn't cut his hair until at least three years ago.

Plus, there is a reason he rarely puts pics of his trucks up on the internet: he doesn't want people to copy them, because then they wouldn't be his.

They are crazy. I have only been allowed to take them out of the store once for fear that I won't bring them back. But you need mucho clearence with those trucks to prevent bite. The pump factor is off the charts.

Jeez man, sorry. It had just seemed like in discussions I've had (in flashchat and also in general) that nobody had really seen much of his trucks and boards...

And yeah, I meant to say that the stuff was old. But anyways,

Herb said that he wanted photographs of his new boards and such, and I emailed him about it and he said that it would be great if I could come by and take pictures of everything. So in that I guess it's alright with him to get new pictures...

Besides, most of his trucks are way too customized for him anyways. They wouldn't make sense for a company to really pursue his ideas... Except for chaindog... Hmm...

The only thing I could see is if a really high end line came out and used his ideas for baseplate designs and the use of bearings in the trucks... But pictures don't give away all the technicalities, right? They would have to be super detailed to do that...

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for a company to steal the entire design, but there's so much inovation in his trucks that they could just take one thing and still make an as$ load of money off it. I can think of one thing in perticular that truck company's never thought of, and it would make tons, I mean TONS of money off of it, and it would be a simple add on for them. I saw a set of his trucks up close last friday, and they totally blew me away, there's so much he has going on and so many great ideas with them it's amazing. If he had the money to mass produce them I'm sure he'd make a alot of money, espceially in the longboard/race world, but unfortunatly it takes alot of money to start something like that and make money.

Zogs, I think you need to relax and "unplug" for a while.

You jerk! The moment I read that, literally the exact moment, my laptop shut off cause it was out of battery. I had "unplugged" my laptop to see how much battery I had left, and poof, there it went.

The only thing possibly worth pursuing would be the adjustable baseplate design... But still, to mass produce something like that, it would be costly and wouldn't make sense for a company to make...

Thanks Mr. Zogs, I just blew 40 minutes of my workday looking a photos (lots of head tilting going on) of skateboard parts that i still can figure out how they work.

Time well spent, beats working anyway.

Okay, maybe not a ton of money, but it would be big. And unlike Zogs, I'm not going to mention it here. And its not the adjustable baseplates, that's been done already. This I have not seen on any truck. Whatever, I'm going back to just being a smarta$s around here. Everybody is way over opinionated lately. Must be the cold.

The number of people who will spend $40 for a pair of good, well-made trucks is a whole lot higher than the number who will spend (say) $100-$300 on a pair of very good, extremely well-made trucks. Would a company "steal" a design in order to compete with the uber high-end CNC'd trucks already out there? Doubtful. Would they borrow some design elements if they could be cheaply integrated into a mass-market truck? Possibly.

Yeah, that's a dumb caption. I think what he was really trying to emphazise was that Herb took some DH baseplates and put them in his mill to make them nice and square. He took the guassets off and straightened out the edges.
