Default Strange/unique board setups that RIP

I just got done tweaking my most recently assembled ride. It was basically a mish-mash of a bunch of parts I had sitting around, but I'm super excited I tossed these trucks on this deck because they go together really, really, really nicely.

    • Gravity Brad Edwards BE40" deck
    • Silver Crail DH trucks, grade-9 kingpins, and a fabulous mix of Stims and Rad bushings
    • 68mm 90a Comet mango wheels and Biltin bearings
This board basically does everything. I can pump it on flats with ease; I can ollie and boneless it, it carves mega tight and stand-up slides are a breeze. I really can't beleive how nicely these trucks ride on this deck. I'll have photos later tonight when my brother comes home with our camera.

Ever put together any crazy setups of your own, only to find out they actually work? Please share photos!

Oh, they're the wheels on your Black Label.
    They're heaps cool in black.
Walk Together, how long is that board by the way, is it about 32-34?

Heres my Urban set up with the G-Bones.

The other interesting board Ive got is a Scriber.
Ive repainted it, added a decal and changed the wheels to Kryptos (it came with rubber wheels.). The trucks are unusual, they can be adjusted to have different characteristics. Its fairly unique, thats for sure.

hey i was looking at those scriber guys, i checked out their stuff, like their schematics for the trucks and all the things they do, unfortunately the people who made them dont appear to be very advanced skaters so i didnt get much of an idea how they performed from their site...

I think some 77mm red vents would be sick on a scriber.

Haah, sorry man. I dont know how much one of these must cost in the US, but Im sure its not cheap. This one was a gift from my parents so, I am not going to complain.

Right,..... here is a mini review for the Scriber C11-
When I first got this board I had some issues, but these were minor things. First up I couldnt figure out why it was so slow. I thought I was too heavy for it and was bending the axles, but after changing the wheels to regular 78A wheels, I figured out what the problem was. The wheels that come with it are slow. They are rubber apparently.

The other problem is this little baby was just too small for me. With the trucks mounted underneath the board traditional style, I felt like I didnt have any space so I moved the trucks to the ends Shlongboard style and ditched the massive metal risers that come with it. In the manual it says that if you want to do downhill on this board you should mount the trucks directly to the board, not with the sliding modular metal risers. The risers are cool because they slide in and click in place. This allows you to tinker with the boards set-up for a while and have a bit of fun.

So anyway I mounted the trucks directly to the board and found a rather frustrating problem. The board itself has threaded inserts, and a new school bolt pattern. The trucks have these chain links that make it very hard to get a tool into the holes at the ends. Along with the threaded inserts, this made tightening the nuts and bolts up a right-royal pain in the ass.
As you can see in this photo I had to use a thinner nut that had no Nylon insert in order to mount the trucks "naked" on the original Scriber deck.

Mounting the trucks on the ends has also proven now to have been a mistake. This has really messed with the geometry, and makes it hard to get a turny set up.

So today I thought, Ive really got to set these trucks up on a board thats big enough for me and test them properly.
I took the Crails of the 42 inch deck, put on some Khiro risers that had no angle. Then I mounted the trucks. Guess what. These guys love an old school hole pattern!! The problem with the springs and chain were gone!! The riser was a little short as you can see, but it'll work.

So anyway, I was excited that now things were looking up. These trucks are really going to be tested.
Check out the width of these babies compared to the Crails. The thing is, they have two widths to play with. The axles have this extension that can be removed with a spanner. You have to do these extensions up tight though (dont want to lose a wheel and axle at the wrong moment). So anyway this is on the wide setting. They are wider than the Crails.

So I took it for a short ride. This is what I should have done right from the start. (put them on a bigger board.)
This was handling more the way you would expect. I have to say the trucks feel super loose and it feels a lot different than regular trucks, but they also are extremely quick to turn.
Once I had found the sweet spot with the settings, I was having some fun. They require more balance than regular trucks, but that is not a bad thing, in fact it is going to be a lot of fun getting used to these.
Ive only had a short ride on these, but putting them on a longboard deck has proven to be a good move for me. Im going to test them out with both axle widths and try and push them as hard as I am able to (which may not be as hard as some of you guys). Ill also try them with my speed vents. I'll keep you all up to date as I go if you like.
My immediate feelings is that they are good, but different. They dont feel like what we are all used to, but they are a lot of fun. They are going to improve my balance, thats for sure.

i set up an old freebord deck that was like 44" with indy 149's and some regular old street wheels for sliding. i also wedged the front truck like 10 degrees. that thing is one of the funnest sliding boards ive ridden. can float gianormus 360s.
