THE CRAPPY SLIDE RIP



Friday night, Nick Harris (Crappysurfer2) took the train from Pennsylvania into New York City to skate the weekly Friday Night Rip with the Earthwing crew. Only six of us showed up (it had been raining all day), but we ended up having a nice session. The road in Prospect Park was slick and smooth, and CS2 tested out a brand new set of Earthwing -Slide A- Superballs on his pro model "CS2" Rayne Agent.

Also joining us was a street skater named Isaac who was brilliant with standing slides, as well as Brian Petrie of Earthwing (Animal Chin) with his trademark DH manual, Connor (Jam) on a drafting run, Alex (alskee750), and me - Nervous Ned (didn't get any footage of either of us that night).

I was testing shooting entirely in infrared film using a filter that blocks visible light capturing IR light through Sony's NightVision. The look is a little like old 8mm black and white footage. I hope it's not too dark on PC monitors...

nope, none of that was slow motion; i did very little editing actually other than just cutting shots together and stripping out the greenish color / saturation, but i feel like youtube does something to the frame rate during compression. it's pretty "crappy" handheld video quality but shot in the dark it was an interesting test for the infrared. i felt like everytime you'd do a sick slide, a drop of water would hit the lens and take the camera out of focus.

no, i do layback to toeside occasionally, non varial
but my varial is heelside coleman to toeside
