Last week, a group of skaters from Florida to Connecticut met for a long weekend of speedboarding in the Appalachian mountain range of NC to skate some of the largest hills on the east coast. This footage is our "warm-up" run on Day 1 on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Boone, NC when about half of the skate crew had arrived after driving 12 hours.
Much much more video footage and photos to come...
First, very creative videos (the existential speedboarding). I enjoyed this one as well.
Second, dammit! I live in Boone and spent the past year and a half griping about not being 5 minutes from the beach and surfing, before I ended my 20 year hiatus and bought a board.
And damn grad school too! I'm lucky to get an hour sesh. I would like to try speedboarding, but how can attempt all the different styles when I only have so much money?
I don't know if your vid got me stoked or pissed me off, but nice work anyway.
I really like the ending with individual shots of everyone and thier setups...that was really cool and very well done. I can't wait to see the rest of the stuff
Beast Coast Virginia Tech NOVA BombersOG KOTF I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.
I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.
hey, i right i We met a cool as ####. local that lives in boone. He was bitchin' about how he never had anyone to ride with . Shoot me a PM and Ill call him for you if you want.

thanks. I loved the existential ones, but they're not for everyone apparently.

yeah man, we'll be back in boone again soon, and we'll drag you out of grad school for a few sessions. Big Hill Road and Hwy 181 (the next videos) will lure you back into skating hardcore -- they're both great runs. the parkway shown here was pretty mellow compared to the other runs these guys did (much more technical and/or fast).
thats sweet, but at the end I didn't catch who the person in red/black leathers was, who was skating like a landyatchz, was that the board or not? what one specifically was it

That would be Alex Newton, or Rabid Skunk. He was on a landyatchz evo. 9 ply of course.

Red/black leathers with a helmet that has a CLEAR shield is Rabid Skunk/Alex Newton.
Red/black leathers with a helmet that has a TINTED shield is myself, Brian Peck. I was skating with the steadicam so there I'm not in too many clips.

Definitely let me know when you're back in town. Again, nice work.
