Re: Big Fall.
Ouch! But I find it kind of hard to believe you got up to 40 after 6 months of skating..

You never know, my friend got to 35mph (that's what the car speedo said) 2 weeks after learning how to push and balance, he had no problems with the speed, it was only stopping that caused problems, oh and turns.
Green - Live in SJC huh? I'm in Laguna Niguel, where'd you crash?

I started longboarding about 2 months ago and I have been clocked at 35 multiple times. It isn't hard to stand still on a sturdy skateboard.

Re: Big Fall.
If "Big Fall" is not a sentance why is there a period after it?
And its very possible to go 40+ after only 6 months--- you could be going 50 + after 2 weeks.... can't guarantee that you'll survive
-
Re: Big Fall.
I dont know why I put the period, its just a habit.

Re: Big Fall.
obvously we see the consequences of what happens after going 40 after 6 monts of skating. what i think you meant was that there is no way his skill level is that to warrent going 40 after 6 months of skating

Re: Big Fall.
Ouch man! Glad to see you're alright though.
I see you ride a longboard, I happen to longboard myself.
-
Re: Big Fall.
I have done the hill I fell on like 20+ times. New board set-up + new turn style = high chance of screwing up.

Re: Big Fall.
It is not far fetched to be going 40 or even 50 after 6 months of skating, I too am proof of that. I would also argue that my skill level is high enough to warrant those speeds. I've fallen a lot while building up to those speeds and I have learned control and balance. After starting out with a S9 Zen with type 2 revenges and bombing hills with those my balance has improved exponentially from when I first started skating(I too fell the first day i stepped on a board, 2nd time down a hill)

Re: Big Fall.
keep up with the peroxide and whatnot for those bad boys, i ate #### when i first got back into longboarding at about 32mph(yes i had my buddy tailing me in the truck, he thought i broke my everything bone, and that was my first DAY of longboarding in about 4 years, which might as well been my first day ever). I took a hill way over my head - i acually made it down standing up the first time, but the 2nd time i got a little too cocky and decided to drop knee it and carve back and forth @ speed = terrible idea. I still have some scars from not using neosporin and what not.
And i was on a 5 year old S9 cosmic II with pivot trucks and trampoline flex. Its very possible for someone with decent balance and leg strength to be doing 40 after 6 months - speedboards today are so rediculously stable that as long as there arent any turns on the hill it really isnt some kind of impossible dream to just stand on a board until it reaches high speeds.
I dont doubt you at all, just dont let it shake you up like my fall did. I dont have any stable boards in my quiver yet, but i really dont go above like 25 anymore. The fall totally ####ed with my head(i wasnt padded at all). But hopefully i can get a nice big pintail on randalls or something and get back up to some speed.
