i think wreckless driving and endangerment and disregard for road laws and hit and run is a little more serious then a couple of kids skateboarding on a road thats usually full of bikers

Either take legal action if it is legal for you to ride in the roads or if its not, take matters in to your own hands. I know if I had caught up to him I would have truck smashed the #### out of him and his car.

In my jurisdiction skateboards are viewed as vehicles, just like bikes and cars. They have the same rights and responsibilities on the roadway. He definitely violated some traffic laws there, from illegal passing to intentional slamming on the brakes (brake checking is usually considered reckless driving if it doesn't have it's own ordinance). It might even be considered aggravated assault or assault with a deadly weapon. Talk to the DA and see if you can file charges on him. It's one thing to be upset because there's someone ahead of you going slower, it's another to risk several peoples lives to get some immature satisfaction out of messing with people. I'm glad I usually have slide gloves, the pucks are quite good at creating and collecting forensic evidence.

although it would feel great, don't do anything that jeopardizes your case.

you're in a great position, assuming you can validate your claim that longboarding was permitted there.

I would say sue for enough money to cover medical expenses and a new board from your friend. Leave the rest of it up to the police and what not. There are few things I despise more than people who take advantage of people by suing them for exorbitant amounts.
