    Default Movie Editors...

    Hey,
I recently purchased a camera, and i would like to start editing the film... Only problem is it saves the files in .mov.
I was wondering if anyone new of any software for PC that is a) free and b) able to do a good job of editing these files?

    Thanks in advance.

I dont really like working with .mov files, you may want to look into converting them into .mpg with some free software on the net. All software is free on the net if you know where Im getting, and know where to look. I use adobe premiere for video editing but its quite advanced and sometimes I lose myself in it heh. But it will work for your .mov files. BTW, what camera did you get? How are you liking it?

    The DXG-595V...
it films in HD, and it is kinda cheap. about 200 dollars...
As for the filming, it works really well during the day time, the picture looks pretty good, we filmed once at night so i don't know if it is better on night mode or not... so still learning on it, but yeah, i will look for a converter. Thanks.

If you can get finalcut 4 hd it will really unlock the potential of that HD recording. You can probably get a student copy cheaply.

For linux it will be easier to find a good movie editor and a transcoder (program to change the format). Rather than using an editor which reads the particular format.

Sorry, i forgot to even ask.

hahaha.... I can run those on a mac though. It's called boot camp my friend (even though a piece of me dies every time i see the windows splash). Like linux? We got that too.
