    Default what are gas pedals?

so durng my Thread browsing here, iv come across the term "Gas Pedals" and i know the that LY's new board has them' the 9Two5. but, to my dismay, when i searched it i never actually found a thread saying what they are, or how they function, the majority either said that it was 1: when the board is wider at the tail, allowing for more leverage, or 2: small rises in the concave, allowing you to grip your feet in more, similar to how a drop deck functions.

did i get this right or are they something completely different?

PS: the easiest understandable answer get will most likely be going on SCKD

    70mm mini Monsters

blake from landyachtz explains in post #23, with a pic in post #1:
"a Gas pedal is used for getting extra grip for the rear foot when it wraps over the rail. by adding on or cutting away the board so that it sits on an angle you can then grip tape it and have more of a contact patch for your toes than just the sharp edge of the board."

I used to think of it specifically as the Roger Bros add on wedge, for locking your back foot in place while you tuck, but now the 9two5 has sort of changed my view to include rails with a specific shape designed to lock your feet to the board (in this case while your heel/toes hang off the edge)

same idea though - something that gives your back foot more leverage/contact area when riding - add-on wedge, "de-tuned" rails, ?kicktail?

so really it could be any of the above things?... the term "Gas-Pedal" is just used to generalize it...

There are multiple uses for the term, although "Gas Pedal" concave is basically concave that's shaped like a V.

Most concave have a "U" shape to it, while gas pedal concaves tend to be a bit more "V" shape.

Although there is also the gas pedal term described above, both can be used.

Gas pedals are sanded down rails that allow for easier foot placement and control on standup slides. And the 9two5 is actually a fairly old board. It has just been updated many times.

they shouldn't be called gas pedals. They should be called brake pedals. I will forever only call them brake pedals, and when someone asks "you mean gas pedals?" Ill say NO

the gas pedals on the Daddow SmoothCut are pretty sweet, just what that concave needs for heelside slides & my size 12US feet, now to add some to my switchback & hairpin

Never use them on toeside manoeuvres though.

    Anyone?

Hang your board gingerly on the wall and never touch it again.
