Default How to ask questions on silverfish without looking like a total n00b.

First- Please spell things properly and use proper grammar and punctuation. It's not that hard. If you're not sure how to spell something google whatever you think it is.

Second- Think about what you want. And think LOGICALLY. This ties in well with parts three and four.
    THERE IS NO BEST ANYTHING

Third- DO NOT ask for opposites. "I want a slidy wheel that still grips well." "I want it to be flexy but still stable."

Fourth- DO NOT ask for everything. "I was thinking about doing some cruising, some sliding, bombing some hills, maybe some dancing, using it as a shield in lazer tag, and beating down small innocent schoolchildren with this deck." No board is "good" for all of these things, but almost no board is "bad." As long as it's not really small/flexy/narrow/total crap it will be fine for learning to bomb hills, dance, cruise, carve, whatever.

NO BOARD AT ALL IS BAD AT CRUISING AND CARVING. NONE. DON'T EVEN BOTHER BRINGING IT UP IN YOUR POST.

Fifth- DO NOT refer to any board as "fast" or "faster." Fast is 100% in the rider, and being fast on a certain board only means it matches that rider's style well.

Sixth- Don't bother asking about bearings. The answer will be to get cheap ones. If you want to pay $45 for bones swiss, that's on you.

Seventh- Almost every wheel on the market these days has a good slide. Decide if you want mostly grip or mostly slide (i.e. do you want to ride windy mountains or straight-line freeriding stuff). Get a lipped wheel for grip, get a rounded edge wheel for mostly slides.
Sideset/centerset/offset: sideset for sliding only, centerset/offset hardly matters. People who say wheels slide/grip better because they are X-set are pretty much talking out of their ass. Sideset wheels slide best, everything else is way too complicated to be attributed to the fact that it is X-set.

Eighth- DON'T MAKE LOTS OF THREADS. Once you have started a thread, feel free to add whatever questions you have to it. You don't need to make three different threads for which deck, which truck, and which wheels, nor do you need to make a new thread because one of the boards you mentioned in the thread title is out of the picture.

TL;DR- the biggest part of gear selection is in knowing how different things feel, and you just don't know. The best thing to do is to buy SOMETHING and learn to ride and slide. Once you can ride, you can try other people's setups and get a feel for different trucks/wheels/bushings/decks/lazer tag guns and find out what you like, and what you want to buy next. All you need to do is buy SOMETHING with decent components and go ride until YOU know what YOU want.

good post bru, it wont make any difference though, silverfish is 5% kooks, 65% idiotic teenager, 10% trolls, with only 20% having any idea what there talking about.

worth a try though i guess...

One more tidbit of info...never, EVER ask for the best anything. (I am not a fan of using absolutes either...)

I understand the search function isn't even a conscious decision to us, but you should edit that in. Probably as #1 lol

If a user fails to obey these eight statements the resulting answer will be in the form of meme.

even this board, which is smaller, flexier, and narrower than the dervish is a fine choice.

If you're one of those retards that's like, "BUT THE SEARCH FUNCTION IS SILLY AND DOESN'T WORK DERP."

That's because it's made for people with an IQ above 16. If you aren't one of those people, use Google instead.
