Angry I cant stand up slide/Speed check?? Help!

I need help sliding.. The problem I have is that when I try to slide the board it just doesnt slide at all, i always end up not moving at all or going into a real steep turn. My knees are killing me and I dont want to screw them up anymore so I'm posting here to get good advice as to not hurt myself.

I really want to learn this move but it just seems im making 0 progress.

    Specs on my board:
    Madrid Dream deck
    Zombie Hawg 82a yellow wheels
    Paris Trucks

BTW: im 5'10" and 135 lb.

A few things that really helped me when learning was to squat a little bit, use my shoulders to help throw my weight through the slide, and dig the arch of my back foot into the edge of the board. Try carving into the slide a little bit too. Just keep practicing you will get it eventually

    Ill try squatting a little.

My knees arent hurting from falling.. its from the strain of torquing them /:

do a slight counter carve, weight the front as you pivot over, and then squat/offset your weight behind the board as it slides out

Thanks man, i wasent squatting at all. Ill go out later and try again but this time squatting instead of stanging up streight. If that doesnt work i might take a video and look at myself to see what im doing wrong.

When initiating the slide you want to carve hard into it. At the same time bend your knees and pretend like your sitting on a stool behind you and lean back slightly. Dont throw your shoulders as hard as you can like a heelside 180... keep your shoulders square with the road ahead of you. Best i can explain it... Good luck!

Go faster. You need speed to break traction.

    Thanks for the help guys.

So pretty much im going to: Bend my knees, get speed and carve hard.

And is it possible it can be the surface in trying it on?

You don't sound confident enough. Knee pads and elbow pads help immensely. You forget about messing up your elbows and knees and just worry about pulling off your move.

Here's a tip that my friend showed me when I was first starting on my stand up slides. I no longer have to move my back foot as far back anymore but I still do a little shift back to give me more traction over my back trucks to break the grip.

And get a helmet and/or gloves!!! This increases confidence level like tenfold lol, allows you to go at a higher speed without freaking out and higher speeds = easier to learn.

In the second picture right as I make the hard angle in the carve, that's when I quickly shift my back foot to the outer rail, stronger push and easier slide. Hope I helped! Pardon my crappy Paint skills :P
When you skate, make as many friends as possible. Why? So you can try other boards for free.

carve as hard as you can than once you hit the point of almost turning around give it a solid push, and you should even carve with your right foot on the rail it helps you commit.

I did my first stand-up slide at around 8mph. Sure it's not as easy but it can be done even at beginner level.

Ok, don't hang your foot off too much though. It makes you look janky as ****. Just have it to the point where your toe is flush with the rail and you heel is hanging off (if you have big feet).

I don't really see how it would help with your stand-up slides. They both have two very different techniques. No, you don't have to learn the coleman to do a stand-up slide.
