    Default most surf-like skateboard?

hey people, I'm from hawaii, and i love surfing, but i live in the midwest now and the only bodies of water for surf are the great lakes, and im not too into wearing a 10mm wetsuit just yet, so i figured id get a longboard to cruise on instead. My question is though, what type of longboard do u guys think would most closely imitate the feel of surfing? I used to ride my friends sector 9 that was kinda on the smaller side, but turned so awesome and felt alot like surfing, but it got jacked. Ive been told that a loaded pintail might be the answer for what i looking for, and so i checked out the loaded site (btw im pretty much clueless in terms of skating brands and stuff, i kinda jus skate on my friends longboards), and it seems like the fish would also be good for what i want, but people keep saying the pintail. I'm 135 pounds, and so im guessing if i went with pintail i should go with a flex 3? but not sure. Any help would be super appreciated, and like a said, i pretty much dont know anything about setting up a board, ive just skated on whats been around. thanks

You should check out http://www.carverskateboards.com/ . I haven't tried their trucks, but the c7's are supposed to be very surfy. They look pretty cool. Hopefully someone with some riding time on some carvers can give you a review or more info.

EDIT: this is differant from the carveboards that League mentioned. just wanted to make sure there was no confusion

Onshore boards turn exactly like surfing, I tried it and it was too strange for me, but then again I've never surfed before...

Are you serious? The same way 90% of all Silverfish "knowledge" is born. Either by hearing someone else talk about it (no matter how clueless they are) or reading a manufacturer's ad copy.

As for the original question... NO skateboard feels anything like a surfboard.

I surf and I like the way my flexdex 40" feels. It's very flexy. I guess the loadeds would have a similar carvey feel. I also have tried the carver c7 trucks, even mounted to a surfboard. They were ok for slow pumping because the front truck rotates and lets you pump from a standstill. The problem is with any speed they are unstable and you can't pump them but so fast. I would recomend Randal R2s for carving and pumping. With a couple of kicks you can pump them much faster than Carvers and you will be stable to bomb and carve hills.

I don't know let me say that but i have talked to Longboardlarry(lbl) and he makes surf board and lonboard the skate type. He told me that the 56 inch cuiser was designed to feel like a surf board and is the board that he still rides the most out of all his boards. Anyone on the fish will tell you he makes i quility board i have two of his neither are the 56 inch cuiser but i love both of them.

It depends if you surf on a shortboard or longboard......

If you ride shortboards then I think the Loaded Fish or a Flexdex Classic29 would do the trick. Especially if you set them up with Tracker racetracks or something.

It kind of sucks living in the mid-west and not being able to see anything in person before you buy it but after talking to different people and reading reviews I decided to go with a Bustin Boards Complex. It's alot of fun to cruise around on and it carves like a champ. I push mine around all day and I love the way it feels. For the money I don't think you can do any better than a Complex. (a Complex is around $200 shipped) Plus who doesn't like designing their own board? You pick the design, the colors, the wheels and the trucks. Pretty sweet.

As someone who went after that elusive surf sim board and has both carver models, I can tell you not to go with the c7 trucks. Sure they produce the most carve, but they're also the single most unstable and wheel bite prone trucks that I've ever ridden. Definitely not the way to go if you're never skated before.
If you like the looks of the Carvers, go with the CX model. They're much more stable, but still amazingly carvy. Have mine set up on a Gravity Carve 43, and it's my favorite board at the moment.

Hey Pono! lets go ride the waves. Boys, we have ourselves a regular Johnny Tsunami! only he wants to skate. shouldn't you be on fruitboots? na, i'm jus playin, anyways. i have both the Pintail and the Fish. i would say the fish is WAY closer to cutting back on a surfboard. i use the tail on my fish to really move through the turns. its sweet and you'll love it.

loaded's website says specifically that their fish has a surfy feel.
    i would do that.

    http://www.loadedboards.com/newsite_v1/fish.html

"Light, Quick, and Agile. A maneuverable and pumpable board with strong surf roots. The flex of the board works synergistically with your trucks. While intended as a soulful and aggressive commuter board, this puppy can hold its own on a hill if carved hard and is light enough to be carried back up or just about anywhere. Perfect for commuting around town, bank, pool riding, parking garages, and of course pedestrian slalom. Made in the USA."
