Thinking of surprising my girlfriend with a board... suggestions?
So it would make me very happy if my girlfriend was into longboarding. Last week i got home from a ride on my Dervish and she wanted to give it a try. She had sandals on and just tried standing on it while i "spotted" her, rolled down the sidewalk a little bit, tried it sitting down a little. I asked her if she would ride it if i got her her own board, she said "maybe".
So with that in mind, i want to buy one and give it to her as a random gift. Since im not sure if she will get alot of use out of it, i want it to double as a 2nd board for me, or a board to let friends ride. I plan on buying something a bit more downhill / freeride oriented as MY next board, im thinking a LY Switch, but i dont want to buy that just yet.
I would like suggestions for a board that is:
-Under $150 complete, or cheap enough to add decent components and still be under $150
-Short enough for a 4'11" girl to handle
-Stable, as she basically has no experience skating
-Has a kicktail (ok i want one with a kicktail
-Has or can accept large wheels (our roads and sidewalks suck)
-Rides smooth (bumpy roads)
-A not too "manly" or "badass" graphic, she is into pink girly stuff. (this is the least important criteria though)
I cannot imagine her bombing hills, sliding, or doing tricks with it, just cruising and carving.
Does anyone have suggestions for me? Also, suggestions on where to get said board at the best price are more than welcome.
Thanks!

Good suggestion there for sure.
I would also suggest for beginner boards that are enjoyable:
Sector9 Haleiwa with Sidewinders. Super fun board (and I really don't typically like S9.)
Or this XVD Baltic Pintail. Totally fun little board.

I myself am planning to give the wife a Rogers Bro's DH 40, New Black Smokies, Earthwing Superballs, Bones 6 balls. Venom Bushings. And if she does not like it. I will keep it. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.
I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world.. without you. A world without rules or controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible.

Look, I can only go from what I'm reading, but it sounds to me like she'll never ride it, but doesn't want to tell you she's not interested because she doesn't want to hurt your feelings. Buy her some flowers or a dress or some other girly stuff, then buy yourself the board you really want.

Doesn't make since to me for buying a KS because you have a dervish. They are 1 in the same IMO. Check out Riviera Longboard Co., awesome completes for cheap on ebay and they come with paris!' I have a luzelle and have been very pleased with it although i don't ride it anymore.

I've bought lots of sporting goods (including boards) for my wife and several GF's through out my life. They never appreciate it. Often they resent it, because they don't see it as a gift for themselves but for you. Eventually it will grow to a contentions subject. Even If you try gently encourage her... "Honey, Its a beautiful day why don't we go skate around the neighborhood?...." She will interpenetrate this as a guilt trip and retaliate with great venom and fury.
I speak from experience. If she's genuinely interested, she'll let you know. If she does show a desire to skate, play it cool and let her pick her own board. Don't get all over-excited and ram it down her throat.

Word, that's totally where I'm coming from. I've been learning this the hard way with my wife and my daughter. Wife won't ride her bike or rollerskates, daughter won't ride her scooter, her bike, or her Gnome. The don't like it when I try to get them to. They always said "maybe" when I asked if they wanted that stuff, I wish they'd just said "no". I oughtta sell their crap and buy myself some leathers.
