Longboarding Resources & Q/AGet or give friendly, patient answers to, "Which board should I get?", "How do I stop?" or "What's wedging and how do I do it?"
The first step I guess would be to figure out if you are more comfortable facing right or left on the board. If you are facing right side, then you are regular footed. If you are facing left, you are goofy footed.
Then after that, have your front foot balance (I usually have my foot behind the truck) and push with your back foot.
Not much to say except go out and ride then come back with questions =D.
yup, go ride, practice moving your foot farther and farther forward when you kick, the fastest way to spot a noob is that they have little pussy kicks. I have size 13 feet, and the heel of my kicking foot is a couple inches in front of the toes of my front foot, which means in just a couple kicks I can build up a lot of speed.
getting a good kick is your first task.
After you have a good kick you need to carve harder and harder until you get thrown off the board so you learn how hard you can turn at what speeds.

Learn to stop, foot braking is a must....there are better descriptions but here's mine. While moving take your back foot and hold it off the side of the board. Then lower the foot until it starts to make contact with the ground. Increase pressure slowly until you stop. Some prefer to have the heal of your shoe hit first some do it flat footed, and even the toe(not my recommendation).

i'd highly recommend learning to ride both regular and goofy stance. it is very tempting to ride one way, but when u eventually get to 180 powerslides or tricks that require u to ride goofy u'll feel super uncomfortable. take the time to learn to ride and push with both feet. start out with getting balanced and coordinated. practice carves and plenty of neighborhood cruising to get used to ur board and riding it for hours

don't forget to take stretch breaks if you're riding for longer than you expected!
edit: but it's better to stretch before you go out.
also, if you fall don't catch with your hands, block with your forearms, you're more likely to get bloddied up, but 1000x less likely to break one of the many tiny, easily breakable bones in your hands. trust me on that.

that's totally true, and totally me.
i agree that the best thing to learn, first, is to learn how to kick until you are very confident about and, and breaking with your foot.
once you get confident about cruising your own board, the other stuff comes easier

Re: Begginner Need Help
Just go out and have fun buddy, If you have any knee pads or gloves, If you have sliding gloves that would be great but If you dont have the essentials try getting atleast a helmet, knee pads and some gloves to wear in case you fall down.... id rather fall on a cheap pair of leather gloves and protect my hands than fall on my hands on the concrete any day at any speed lol
yyyyyuuuummmmyyy...... bloody hands lol, Just have fun out there, atleast with some gear on you will feel more confident in doing more things and going faster.... Good luck
