Longboarding Resources & Q/AGet or give friendly, patient answers to, "Which board should I get?", "How do I stop?" or "What's wedging and how do I do it?"
So i was browsing a couple of Online stores, and a brand that I haven't really heard of showed up. Does anybody know about Gravity? I found a couple of decent looking boards and the completes weren't that expensive. So i was just wondering if it was worth getting or not waster my money/time with it?
gravity is sick! ive had a few of them and enjoyed them all. what board are you looking at? check out gravityboard.com for a close look at all the decks

Gravity is good stuff for sure, and a great company with some great guys behind it.
One thing to watch out for, the last few years Gravity completes have been shipped out with stock wheels of sub par quality, and many stores still have those. Recently Gravity have launched a new wheel line with great wheels, so your best bet would be to order direct from them, so you get the enjoy the new ones, the good ones are the 66mm Burners, 70mm Drifters and 76mm Hi-Grades.
Apologies for the amounts of posting in this thread, but as i keep looking at Gravity the more I seem to like them.
The board I am really looking at (now) is the 42" Mini-Carve. I mean i read that its longer model the Hyper-Carve can support heavier guys, since they are both made of the 11-ply birch does that mean they both can support the heavy hitters of the road?
And is 42" too short for a taller rider, such as 6' 4".
Just things I would like to know before i drop the dough.
i have both the mini and hyper carve and they are great boards. id say go with the 47" because your so tall. guarantee that youll enjoy which ever one you get

Both the Hyper and the Mini is tough decks, so some weight shouln't be a problem.
Considering your height, the Hyper Carve may be the best for you, although the Mini would be easier to haul around. Can't go wrong with either really.

Thanks again.
Order direct from the Gravity website so you're sure to get the new wheels. Also, you can type in "Army sent me" in the comments block on the order form and they'll hook you up with a few extra goodies.

Enjoy! Love, Army (Gravity Team guy)
PS: I know both the Hyper and Mini will take massive amounts of punishment... But at 6'4 250 you're a huge deck-wrecker for sure. So if you're planning on doing boneless, drops, or tricks that are hard on decks I'd go with the 42". But if you plan on carving and cruzing it up the 47" would go better with your size.
Also, it cost more, but you might take a look at the Ed Economy too. Given your size it would be an excellent rig for you (again, for carving, cruzing, and mellow tricks)

hey, since we have a gravity insider here, can you comment on when the new boards are coming out (jute carver, drop through, & speedboard)?

I second the 47" hypercarve it was my first board and i still love it. Its a great all around board and you can learn just about all your basics on it with ease.

I've got a Mini Carve and I'll take on hills, skateparks, ditches, whatever- it'll handle it. Same for the Ed Economy. Nothing like doing an edger on a 55" board. Seems to me the more I skate them the sweeter the ride.
Hey Army, the three inch trucks are tons of fun on the halfpipe, instead of a grind you're on one wheel buzzing the coping.
i picked up a minicarve a while back (after watching Army's video) and it has served me well, i used to be running some 9 inch gullwing chargers i had laying around, but i just ordered some indy 169s, i hepe it will be twice as good
all in all the mc42 is a great deck fr nearly 60 dollars, the simplicity is what really gets me. who knew 11 plies of birch, and no cave could feel so relaxing. i only wish it had some rocker because i cant even make it budge with 130 pounds
gravity is defenatly on my list for buying a new board from.
that mini classic 3 looks delicious..

Might want to try out Muir Skate if everything in Gravity's complete doesn't please you. Muir has everything separated so you can piece it together and they will gladly take your calls if you so wish to speak to a human voice for advice. Don't forget to tell them you heard about Muir Skate thru Silverfish so you'll get a 15% discount.
I'm sort of new to longboarding, but I got my Gravity Logan Cruiser with Burner Wheels about a month ago. I really love it, and I think Gravity is just great.
yeah i love my hypercarve its nice and flexable great board. great company my cousin has the 45in spoon nose and he loves it. the hypercarve the mini carve and spoon nose are all great boards
