Default NS descent vs NS heist

    hi,
i found seperate info on these boards but not much in comparison.
so basically i'm looking for replacemant of my current s9 board. i'd like to have a twin tip shape (reason of the boardchoice) and also a bit more footspace (width), because i now have kind of a pintail shape and my backfoot always hangs a bit off, and if you ride for more than an hour this can start to hurt.
these two boards are very simillar, so which one of the boards would be best fit for this:
    -carving, cruising
-commuting, it has to be able to handle a town/city enviroment (sidewalk corners and stuff)
    -flexy
-which one has the smallest the turning radius?
-very little downhill, but you don't really need to count this in because it will be the same as the hills i can already manage with my way to riser drugged topmount s9
    -pumping

this would be my main, allround, multipurpose board.
my personal thought would be that the descent would be better, but i need some more experienced visions here. maybe people who have ridden both, or one?

    thx

EDIT: ow, forgot to say, i weigh around 180-190 lbs (70-73 kg, <-- and i just estimated this...), i heard the descent is pretty flexy, will i bottom it out much? and wil the board be able to take this?

I believe the Heist is a tad bit wider and longer than the Descent.
Concerning flex, from what I've heard , the Descent is flexier than the Heist by a bit.
I don't own a Descent, so I can't really vouch for that, I have stood on it once, but not long enough to get a good impression.
I own a Heist and I dig it.

About bottoming it out, there's a guy on this forum who rides a Heist and he weighs about 200 lbs and loves his board. So the boards can handle any weight it's just a preference about how flexy you want it.

I'd say either board is good because they seem to me to be extremely similar. It seems to me that the Descent is the topmount version of the Heist, and the Heist is the dropthrough version of the descent.

Just curious, what is it that has you thinking that the Descent may be better for your needs?

I hope you enjoy your new board whichever one you get.

The Descent is so flexy and so much fun, the flex is good and responds when ever you carve.

I got lots of boards. I ride them a lot. I enjoy Longboarding. tee hee you found me

I think I'm that 200lb guy and I love my heist. I have not ridden the Descent, but I have stood on it in the store and IMO it's a bit flexier and also top mount so you'd have more of a top mount / drop through decision than a flex decision....

on another note the 2009 Heist graphics are pretty cool

Hah, I was actually referring to leadfoot, but I'm glad you could chime in

I think the 2009 Descent graphics are cooler than the Heist's, but I think the 2009 Heist looks better than the older one. I know a lot of people didn't like the skull, so now it has a cool looking seal with two lions. I dig it.
Graphics aren't that important though, but still, they're cool.

Perhaps the Heist is more versatile because you could either have it topmount or dropthrough?

I guess is what it comes down to is topmount vs. dropthrough and which board has a shape you like better.

i thought tha descent was better because it turns better:
a smaller wheelbase (although this is a really small difference)
topmount. but now that i think of it, you can also topmount the heist .

but i'm not considering graphics right now, because i will buy this board later (i've already started to get all the info so that i won't make the wrong decision) and i'm also still doubting to buy a short dancer. if i would buy that dancer this board's purchase will be even later.

Ah ok, well, yeah I'd say the turning of either board is negligible because they're pretty much the same length.

About the short dancer, I'm not saying you shouldn't get one, but just an FYI:
I like to cross step, nosemanual, and shove-it, and I can do it on my Heist.
BUT, I learned how to do all of those moves and a different board, the one I rode before I got my Heist and it was longer (46") and had a kicktail.

So what I can say is that dancing-type moves are definitely doable on the Heist, but I can't say for whether or not the board is good for learning those moves on. But then again, riders are adaptable and can learn/do most everything on most anything (the Loaded Vanguard is my go to example for weird boards that people to tricks with.)

Just my two cents on the matter.

i can already cross step on a board with 30-ish inch foot room
but things like walk the plank and shove it and G-turn would be very hard i guess.

(btw, i think i'm going to get the descent because i saw a pretty sweet deal somewhere)

depends on how fast you're pushing the limit for the Hiest. Ive been about 30-35mph maybe on the Heist. It was pretty stable with flipped randals. I think anymore the board would start rippling in a wierd way.

the descent is actually pretty thin. only about 9 inches in with. and very little plies. it does slide very well when ur used to it. the best slides ive gotten on it were a 720 and a double pendulum so u know it will do well for slides. it carves well considering it has alot of flex but not a lot of concave. for dancing its hard to get a full real cross step in and im 5 foot 7. other dance moves like the leotard or tiger claw are very easy to land considering its not to heavy. racing isnt too fast because it has no drop and comes with paris trucks which are a little high. but aside the back parts its a very good board. pretty simple. its a board u can really get used to...

The thing about the Heist is, people either love it or hate it, or think that it's OK.

205 lbs. got my Heist last week, love it. Don't wanna spend time off of it. Real flexy, i've bottomed it out a couple of times, but nothing too crazy.

I got mine at stoked, came in 2 days.
