anyway if you're looking for some wheels to start learning to slide i like the new retro freerides.I've lime right now but maybe get lemon they'd be sweet.
i dont see how revenge trucks are "too high" for commuting anyway. but i love randals and definitely recommend upgrading. get some khiro bushings and you'll have yourself a nice carvy board.
as for dh...just get a new setup.
78a are too soft when you have to push a lot while commuting..
and trust me revenge trucks are really too high)
btw id do tech sliding on hard wheels but i want to try something softer.i am actually leaning towards orangatang 70mm 83a.. and its not gonna be a setup dedicated to DH but i wanna bomb some hills on it

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
I"m looking to get a first board, I've ridden longboards before, and ride a skateboard frequently, but want better transportation.
It would be mostly for commuting but it'd also be for bombing.
I have a bit more than $200 to spend,
I'm abouyt 5'11 and anywhere between 180-195lb

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
I'm sure it's been asked, but I'm looking for a nice cruiser board for downtown lunch hour fun (flat to Safeway, but long volcanic hills on friday!) It's been 30 years so looking for something that I can multipupose, weight 200, height 6.3 -- Athletic, but still have a mortgage.
I was looking at the Original Custom 35 but there is a 3 week backorder which means summer will be over. Other alternatives like this? Thanks.

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
hey,
im looking for a board but im not exactly a beginner. Intermieditate i guess. I just need some advice. I currently have a original 34 and love it. the only problem is that while it is amazing for carving, once I pick up any speed i feel like i do not have control. I am looking for a board that can carve but is still stable at higher speeds. I dont have a lot of money so that is also an issue. I also prefer smaller boards (34-42ish?). Any ideas? thank

Hey I received an Apex 37 last week and let me tell you for carving and cruising it's AWESOME. It feels like your just floating in and out of those easy flowing carves... Ah... Too bad it's raining I recommend you get it setup with S8 trucks and lime bigzigs also sliding is awsome with this board

i know this board carves well but don't know if it can handle speed: gravity mini carve.
that board is rather cheap, my real suggestion would be the NS eclipse.
and i heard some good stuff about s9 bomb hills. i gues now it's just called hills. dunno, just check their site, they change their names every hour! (not litteraly)

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
I'm looking for some recommendations for a decent longboard (as in specific ones). Here's some information:
I'm about 5'4" and 115lbs, I snowboard (don't do any tricks though) but have never skateboarded or longboarded. I'm looking into something that can take me long distances, like on campus, there are some hills on campus so I'm hoping for something that'll be stable enough for a first time longboarder. As for price, I'm looking for something under $150, I don't need a top of the line longboard, just something that I can use for transportation, I don't plan on doing any tricks. Thanks so much!

youll be better off getting a little more money and throwing it down on some more expensive wheels than getting $35 ones beside most wheels are 40 and up id go with oranatangs or abec11 flywheels

Out of those 3 I would get the spoontail or weave. The waimea's little swallow tail seems rather pointless to me and seems like it would easily chip. I like the shape of the spoontail the best

Gravity makes awesome boards...Gravity Skateboards: High Performance Retro and Longboard Skateboards , you could put together a sick complete for under 200. Check out http://milehighskates.com and Stoked Skateboards
if you're on the east coast Longboard Skater - Longboard Skateboards is also a great company. Look around & do some research, s9 makes decent products imo, but you can do much better for the 200+ you'll spend at your local skate shop, by shopping online...despite the torturous wait. just my 2cents. good luck
