Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
At the moment I am riding a 40" drop board, abec 7, 70mm wheels. I find that I loose control of it much too easy and it is a bit too fast for my liking.
So I'll post this and see if you guys can recommend me a board.
How much are you willing to pay? $200AUS.
What kind of riding are you looking to do? Cruising, nothing too much downhill.
Are there any shipping concerns (AKA the company is based in Cali and you live in Siberia, etc)? I'm in Australia and I can't find any boards in the shops around here that I like.
How much do you weigh? 85kg, about 170lbs.
How tall are you? 175cms or about 5'7"
Other than that, go on with your business with what whatever else you have to say (ride high/low, flexy/stiff, fast/slow, slidable/not, are you female and single, etc). I like flexy, low to the ground, not too fast because I have some kind of terrible balance, slidable, and easy to turn, and I like 36" +
Thanks for any help.

Go to the forum section you want to post in and you`ll find a "post new thread" top left over the threads.
I advice you to do some research here first though, you can find a thread about most anything you can think of.

Maybe check out sector 9 they have some board that would be great for what your looking for, small turning radius for intersections, they're pretty styling and some are small enough to fit in a backback if you need.
I'm gonna tie you to the radiator and grape you!

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
Hi
I'm looking to soon buy my first longboard and being that I'm totally new to this...I was just wondering based on the info I give, if I'd be making a good choice.
Here's what I got, I'm looking to spend up to 200$, being that it's my first board I don't wanna spend *too* much yet.
I want something that's good for cruising around and carving, and not too stiff.
I think I'm about 135 pounds, and 5'3".
Now given all that... I've been looking at the Gravity 46" Carve board, does anyone know much about it, or if it might be a good choice for me?
SPECS
L:46.00"
W:9.00"
N:6.00"
T:8.00"
WB:28.00"
PRICE
Complete: $145 Deck Only: $70
Thanks! Oh, and if I posted this improperly, I'm sorry, I've never "forumed" before. :P

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
ok so i started longboarding a month ago, and we go about every other day cause its awesome. ive been using my friends sector nine board thats about 40 inches long and is pretty stiff. i can go fast with it but the carving is pretty much not there lol. i have to take wide turns. i plan to get a new board soon and i was looking at landyatchz. i like the chinook but i dont know if its right for what i want. i love speed and i would like to be able to slide on like 90 degree turns. i weigh 220. my friends and i love to go down parking garages. i dont want any board longer then around 42". i was worried about the chinook being too low the ground with its horizontal shape. i want maximum speed control. dont get me wrong i like carving but im not a super carving maniac. im also 6 foot 3"

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
so, in the theme of this thread, I'm pretty new to longboarding and looking to buy a board.
I started riding 7 months ago with some friends in Waterloo, Ontario (Canada) and for the past two months on the West Coast in Vancouver, British Columbia. I was stoked when i moved to BC thinking that there would be longboarding everywhere, but other than Rayne i haven't found much.
Right now i'm riding an ANCIENT (at least 30 yrs old) Duraflex board that's about two and a half feet. This thing is soo old that it uses rollerskate trucks. A great board, but not what i need for more serious riding.
I'm looking for a really flexible board, preferably with drop through trucks that's comfortable sliding, downhill and in parking garages and really easy to push.
Anyone have any advice? Hopefully something available in BC?

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
Hello,
I've been wanting to get into longboarding for over a year now, and one of my friends is selling two of his boards so I'm trying to decide if either of those would be a good option for me. I'm going to test them out soon but I kind of want to get feedback from some other ppl.
I'm pretty short, 5'2, under 120 pounds, and a novice to boarding.
The boards my friend is selling are either a 46 inch sector 9, or 38 inch fibreflex.
I kind of figured that the sector 9 was pretty long, but i've been told the fibreflex is more geared to people that are more comfortable with boarding
What do you all think?

Re: Longboard Buyers Guide. >>Newbie Resource Guide<<
Im just starting out longboarding and would like to know which board would suit a 5' 7" 210 lbs. I live in a very hilly area so I will be doing alot of hills but I would also like to cruise around campus to get to and from school.
I really like the look of the landyachtz evo, landyachtz spud or any other drop down board. I was just wondering what a good board for my size is or if anyone had any good advice for any other drop down board. Thanks.
