How much are you willing to pay?
What kind of riding are you looking to do?
Are there any shipping concerns (AKA the company is based in Cali and you live in Siberia, etc)?
How much do you weigh?
How tall are you?
Other than that, go on with your business with what whatever else you have to say (ride high/low, flexy/stiff, fast/slow, slidable/not, are you female and single, etc).
Any suggestions on revenge trucks vs. double trucks?

back on topic, big gun, great board, only 180$ from landy.com carvy, not realy stable for bombin hills but good for transport Boards
go for flashback wheels its worth it+ 75a nice for crusin

I am looking to branch out and try new things and long boarding looks like something I want to try. I am fairly certain I will enjoy it, but I am not willing to spend tons on my first board. Here are some basics: I plan on using the board for commuting around town, and back home from work/to work (6 miles one way) I know that sounds lofty, but I already lift weights, and mountain bike, so I think I can adapt to the distance/stresses. The problem with mountain biking to work is getting my bike there. I was talking to a buddy of mine and he suggested long boarding. Sounded like something fun, so I did some research and here I am.
Height: 5'6
Weight: 155lbs
I live at the foot of the Berkshire mountains in a very hilly area and I am not looking to tear down some of the steep hills here. I am looking for a stiff board that delivers nearly all of my output of energy to the wheels, one that I can carve on decently to reduce my speed with good to moderate stability for cruising. I want something that is stable so it will be easier to learn on. I am 66 inches tall so ideally I'd like a board that will be comfortable for me to carry on my back when necessary.
Thanks a lot to all the people who have already posted, the information you have provided has been helpful thus so far in getting me this far.
(sorry i don't know how to do quotes. :P) Me:
My friend has a Landyachtz (Landyatchz, landyaughts, landyots, whatever) Battle Axe, and that's the best DH board i've been on. He flipped his hangers, and he has the pumpkin bushings (grizzly bear trucks). I like it because it is really stable and low, yet somehow you can still turn decently on it. It's the weirdest feeling - totally different than the Evo. I recommend that one.
Oh - it was also his first board.
my friend has an arbor blunt, it is perfect for what you are talking about. look on ebay =]
never tried either
my only and personal faves are the bear 852's with red med soft venom bushings+ wheel cut outs
(70mm flashbacks on hmade shlongboard)= ownage

never touched anything but my big gun from landy
still new to the longboarding thing had it for just under a year
it owns, curantly hoping to build somthin like the demonseed and bomb some hills, got one ive had my eye on since i was nine, big one infront of my cousins house, very steap. i whent down it on my ripstick when i had no clue about longboards. ever seen one with cute litle light up wheels, i burned the wheel down to the litle leds.
back on topic, lookin at the reyne demonseed, closest ive got to a downhill board was standing on a landy evo at the store looking at some bamboo boards. then the price hit me off the board. maby build somethin, laminated drop board, by some 50$ trucks and get some soft wheels and speend the rest on the deck and you should have somthin to brag about.(the board)
sorry for the long answer, bord as ever, doomed to a three to five page comedy story for school
ill look at the nose walker thing

hey guys, I need help finding a (sturdier) replacement for my s9 wings. I love that deck it's amazing, my friend loves it too he's learned everything on it. But I'm about to send it off to another friend and I don't think it'll make it out alive this time. Anyone have any idea what board I should get to replace it.
I used it for standy slides, manuals, shuv its, and such.
I have a Dervish and an FSM is on the way, but I really miss the feel of the Wings, it's just not sturdy enough.

Stimulus, for sure. It isn't that small unless you're used to inHeats. I really think you'll like the feel of a smaller wheels and the smaller contact path will make sliding easier.

Hi I'm pretty new to longboarding. I use to do a little skateboarding back in the day but I still consider myself a beginner. I was hoping to get a longboard for this summer to play around on and then bring it up to school with me in the fall. My school's campus is pretty big and spread out so I figured a longboard would help me get around faster. I was looking at some landyachtz and the Ripper stuck out to me:
I'm not really sure if that would be best suited for me because I'm looking for something just to cruise around campus on. Not really interested in big downhills but of course average hills.
I'm 6'0'' and 200 lbs. I planned on spending around the two hundred range. And I'm open to looking at other brands of longboards of course. So which longboard would work best for my needs? Thanks.

Yeah sure. Small-ish, kicktail. I think it has some flex?? And bears are turny with the right setup. Maybe look around a bit more?
