Default Need some help and recommendations.

I would really like to start longboarding but I do not know which board to get.
    I am 5'7' and 170 pounds.

My friend recommended me the Landyachtz Bamboo Pinner, The Mummy, or any Original longboard. He himself is getting an Apex 37 Original longboard. I have no clue about what board I should get. I just want to learn and be able to cruise and carve. The highest I can pay is $250.

    Thank you, Keloond

well I dont know about 250 and I think its too high for my price range. I think i can afford 200. And I would be interested in sliding. How much is the neversummer heist?

Earthwing Supercharger is a sick deck, and makes a great first ride. The good news is that you won't out grow it as your skills increase. It's just rad.

This is a nice set up, $194. shipped to your doorstep. Supercharger @ Longboardskater.com

What are the pros and cons of the supercharger? And are the bustin boards good? My friend told me that the strike is good and it seems like a nice board

Not too sure about the Supercharger or Strike seeing as I have not ridden them, but I would recommend a Kracked Skulls Scimitar if you're looking for a nice flexy, carvy board.

The Scimitar is a dream to just cruise on. The mild flex and concave caresses your feet as you surf the concrete swells, responding instantaneously to cut backs and deep carves like no other when paired with Randal trucks and some grippy wheels; she's built like a tank too.

I would also recommend an FSMini just because I'm going to get one soon.

How is the Original Torpedo. I like the look of it and it looks like what I want. Is it good for carving and cruising? Would it be easy to learn on?

i have the terrapin 34 and i can do a 180* turn in like 2 feet of space. awesome awesome awesome for cruising and carving.

EDIT: i would expect the torpedo to be very similar.

as for learning on an original board, itll be harder than learning on a board with reverse kingpin trucks, but its worth it. have you ever skateboarded at all?

You still have not answered (or I missed it if you did) the key components to choosing a longboard.

Do you want to go fast?
Do you want to slide, technical maneuvering?
Do you want to carve / free ride?
Do you want a flexy board, or a stiffy?

Do you want to bag it, put 22's on it, neons and a thumpin' system?

I have skated very minimally. I will definitely try my friends board out when he gets one ( probably around Christmas time).

What are reverse kingpin bearings? I have seen the term on these forums but I have never seen them defined.

    To other poster.

I do want to go fast but I want to be able to control it.

What do you mean by technical manoeuvring?

Yes I would love to carve.

I do not want my board to be like a trampoline but I want it to be a bit flexy. Flex 1? I dunno.
