Talking Noobie asking some longboard questions:):)

hey guys, im new at longboarding (i skated for about a year) and i just picked up a sector 9 goddess at west 49 (the clerk seemed to think it was a good beginner board) and when i got home i looked up some videos and got into the whole cross stepping and the lookback and stuff like that, but then i realized that a pintail board is more for cruisin and carving, so my question is "IS IT POSSIBLE FOR PINTAIL BOARDS TO PERFORM CROSS STEPPING ECT.?" well i know that pros can obviously do it, but i was wondering if its possible for a newbie like me to learn these moves on a pintail board

    thanks and peace

If you had such a specific question, you should have either put it in the title or searched around for that answer.

On the contrary, I believe that pintails are more versatile than just for cruising and carving. I learned dancing on my Sector 9 pintail and still use it for that--I also finally got around to giving it soft bushings and now it turns amazingly. Some of my friends also have pintails, and do some sliding on them.

The only thing to note about your specific model, the Goddess, is that it's stiff (unless you're really heavy) and there's not much usable nose space for nose manuals or nose shuvits.

So yes, you can cross step on a pintail. Also, Loaded's videos aren't a depiction of the only board shapes that can dance.

And, being new or your type of board does not mean you can't do certain things.

yes its possible...and if you learn something on a board not designed exclusively for that style, it will make you that much better. Plus, it doesn't sound like a terrible dancing board anyways, go shred and get stoked!!!

oh and alberty u noted that the goddess model is stiff, how does that affect the performance? im 5'9 and 160lb, is that considered "heavy enough"?

no not too heavy at that weight for your board. Some people who are 200lbs.+ can make even stiff boards sag a bit
