Awww man! I thought you know what you were talking about when you tried calling me out on that "Downhill Dervish" thread...

Anyways, you really need to sand the old grip off. I did mine by using Outdoor Grip Strips. Comes in a long roll. I tore off a piece and used that to sand off the grip the proper width.

    Cheap and very effective.

Actually, my uncle had some in his shed, so it cost me nothing. He was glad someone was using it.

lol just wanted to double check but i wasn't really calling you out just stating that the dervish is a great downhill board + all around board and you achieve some huge speeds on it with the right amount of confidence

This is true, don't pay any attention to that other kid, he posts more than he 'boards, like so many here he talks down to people over the internet to raise his self esteem, instead of going out and doing something like ...... longboarding.

Again with the comma splices! How the hell did you get a MBA? Check your grammar.

    Incompetence proves fatal.

EDIT: I think 16 years of skating buys me a little time to sit down for a few minute during the day...

The first couple of posts weren't so bad, but now I can use witty jpgs.

Oh, and to engage myself in this post sanding it off is highly recommended, and only a lazy man wouldn't. Also, saying the Dervish is a "great" downhill board is loltastic. Yes it can be used for some downhill with proper experience, and some balls but anyone from a small amount, to a professional in downhill will tell you they'd prefer almost anything else over that flexy thing. Yes, it's a fun highly marketed board, but not at all "great" for downhill.

its a flex 1 and im 155-160 which helps but if i can get a video up i will(friend wants to buy a helmet cam soon ..mite get one too but need to spend money on helmet + pads rite now). im not trying to brag or anything but with strong legs + confidence i don't see too many things limiting the dervish. of course i agree that there are better boards for strictly downhill but dervish has blown my assumptions out of the water.. goes to show you that actually riding a board vs. someone else's board review/opinion can be a very diff. experience.

haha yea i am serious but im not saying its for everyone. it definitely takes some balls to do it and can be done on a daily basis

o i have ridden a dervish, i just cant justify dropping that much money on a board that does what my drop carve does too.

i havn't ridden too many other boards so i can't comment on that but what i do know is the flex in the dervish is simple amazing.. esp for carving. it allows for a huge range of motion which make for some awesome runs.

yehh dude, not too bouncy. I wouldn't use it for straight downhill, but it rocks for highspeed carving. Rarely have I ever dropped into a tuck on the dervish, it's just not made for that.

well thats not true at all. just because i've never bombed on a dervish doesnt mean ive never taken a flexy deck up to speeds. ever take an older gen drop carve up to 30? its got a shorter wheelbase than a dervish with no concave, tell me again how i have not considered other possibilities for dh.

He is talking about me... Stock grip does suck and Dervish isn't a highspeed DH board. Saying that makes me a close minded fool I guess. Maybe my opinion isn't valid because I'm too heavy and they don't make a stiffer flex for me to be stable enough to hit 50mph on a Dervish, which I wouldn't want to do anyways.

Oh well. Let's stop pointing fingers. The question has been asked and answered. You need to sand the grip off before you add new grip to it... Like ALL skateboards, you need to remove old grip before you put on new grip. Should be a no-brainer.
