OK, so I'm thinking of getting a Rayne Demon seed off Stoked as a complete. Setup would probably be bears 852s, venom dh pack 90a for front truck, venom dh pack 93a for rear. then bones swiss bearings, and then here come my problem, wheels. i was thinking either the 97mm flys 81a or the 85mm speedvents 75a. i have speed vents 77mm and 79a on my current deck, and love them, but my friend has the evo with flys on it and they are decent too. which would probably be faster? and would the flys get too slidey as speeds like 50? im looking for a bit of drift on corners but nothing crazy, but id rather go for great grip that over done drift, but ive never ridden flys much so im not sure how they'd hold up. any advice?
Don't get a double drop if you want to grip. I recommend: rayne nemesis, paris 180s with 90/93a venoms and some 70-75mm wheels.

Any trucks will harder bushigns will hold up at speed for the most part. What your describing is in the looks of a nemisis previously stated OR some sort of top-mount, only if you like the feel of top-mounts

I'm ok wit the nemesis idea, it'll be like $60 cheaper. always a plus. and no bigger than 75? hm. well then the 80a 4pres?, supposed to do well but not sure iff they will be as fast as vents.
Andrew Mercado rides indys... fast.
Dubes rides Paris'... Fast
why cant you? they had to start going fast sometime. its not like one day they woke up found that they had CNC'd ruck bolted to their decks and rolled down a mountain unscathed.
Paris? thought they were carve trucks but i guess venom's fix em up. is that your board set up? if so hows the ride.
There's nothing wrong with the Bears you were looking at, other than that you should get the 10mm axle if you're going with larger wheels. Trucks are mostly preference, and you should take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt, search for their reasoning and ultimately decide for yourself. Then again, if you really don't know what you're after and are more or less kind of just picking what might sound good (97mm Flies? Hmm..) then you could look for a more conventional setup. R-II or Paris trucks, 70-75mm wide offset wheels, and a Nemesis just because they seem well-rounded enough.
Now wheels... 97mm is probably overkill. I had Flies in 83mm 75a (a good duro match for that huge core) and they were great. They could still grip well enough and drift very smooth, and the characteristics stayed consistent throughout a high range of speed. Also, the tall wheels you want coupled with the Bears (which are tall themselves if you get 52s) would put you at a healthy gripable (but still low) height I'd guess for the double drop. You aught to find someone who can tell you how a Demonseed with Bears and tall wheels ride. I've never ridden Speedvents, but I've read they do grip very well with a pretty choppy drift. Of course, you can just about always break in a wheel enough to smooth out the drift or even go so far as to radius the edges.
Why don't you ride your friend's Evo some more, and see if it's got the right kind of grip/drift feel (as far as height goes- the Evo itself feel way different) you want? Evos are really low, so however you setup the Demonseed should be in the ballpark if you get Flies.
Any DH oriented setup you get will be fast- there isn't necessarily a faster setup. That all depends on you and the road conditions. So just get what you want.
Ten mm axles are the only way to go! I have set up over 20 demonseeds and the 10mm
bears are the answer to performance on that deck... Big deck with lot's of leverage over the trucks... it just rides better and feels confident under your feet!
Never rode vents? u gotta try them sometime. great wheel, best grip ive ever found and realllyy fast. but wont drift, like ever, so... yeah. i still need to see what bushings fit the 852s tho. pumpkins seem to have a different shape from many other bushings and im not sure if the venom's would fit in. then what would you say is better the 40 degree or 52? iver never changed up the base plate much on trucks. I know 40 gives better stability, so im assuming them. But 52 probably has its upsides too.

Venoms and reflex both fit great... The new Bears come with the same upgrade all the pros have been running... pumpkin shape bottom barrel top... might not need to upgrade!8)
ok thanks. pretty new to all these little details with trucks and w.e, been doing ok so far tho. only been boarding for like.... 5 months. and not ridiculously, haven't had the time (hw ). ok so new revised set up. Rayne demonseed, bear 184mm 10mm 52 degree, venom dh 90a for front, 93a back, not sure bearings any more, and 83mm flys 78a/85mm vents 79a if i can find.
I run a nemesis with bear 1040s and it is an awesome combo. I just like paris better for sliding. But if you are using big wheels, bears are the way to go.

ok then, cant argue wit da pros. biltins dont come 10mm tho idt...

Yeah it was a one or the other deal... 8mm Builtin or Landy 10mm with spacers... cofusion abounds! I like the 10mm setup... and ALWAYS argue with the pros!8)
:P nah they've been racing longer faster and harder with more boards and setups, they know whats up with it all. might aswell get landy 10mm ceramics... just for the heck of it. then 10mm spacers.... tho idk how to clean ceramics, idt normal lube works
My buddy has a demonseed on crails and 85mm 79a speedvents and it is awesome.
I especially like the speedvents, they have a fast, powerful feeling that I can't really explain, not to mention how grippy they are. The crails are excellent as well and their 8mm axles are holding up really well to the 85mm wheels. He is using biltins which I believe protect your axles against bending somewhat.
