    Default Just bought a Malakai 40

    Hello, I just recently purchased a Malakai 40 and anxiously await the arrival.

    I have one question though, I ordered it with the S10 trucks rather than the S8 or S6. I plan on doing cruising at first to get the feel, then integrate a lot more tricks in. The wheels I used were the standard Kryptonics 65mm 78a Classic.

    How do you think this setup will work?

    change the wheels, they are horrible.

    yeah those wheels are completel ####. look at daddiesboardshop.com they have a wheel of the week thing where the wheel over the week comes with bearings. and also shipping is free over $25

    Unless you're planning on doing some fairly intense speed sessions (relatively), I think those S10s will be a bit much. Especially for cruising. I garage bomb on my S8s, and they're pretty good for cruising, too. The S6s I had on my Derringer before were great for pedestrian slalom.

    Yeah. He also asked how we thought the setup would work. I just gave my opinion on how I thought the S10s would handle compared to the other Original Trucks.

    Please excuse my lack of knowledge for these things, I am relatively new.

    By cumbersome would you say the turning arc is lower, not as fast? I live in a small town, somewhat flat but there are a few medium sized hills around. The landscape is varied.

    Oh, it's all good. I'm sure there are better words that I could be using to describe this, but my sk8vocab is seriously lacking.

    Basically, since the trucks are wider, they're take longer to swing around on turns, even though the turning radius is technically the same once they're fully turned in. The angle is the same, but the time it takes to get there will probably be longer with the S10s.

    If that doesn't make sense, I can take another stab at it in a little bit, but I'm actually running late for a doctor appointment right now, so I'm got to grab my Apex and jet.

    Maybe somebody else can explain this better, or decode my rambling?

    This is true. I have S10s on my Apex and its awesome fun for carving hills at a slightly higher speed, they are a bit slower when it comes to carving flats compared to the smaller original trucks. Also, they are a bit heavy and they are Very wide. Still fun as hell to ride, but definately recommend the smaller 2 if your doing smaller hills and flats only.

    Cruising with the s10s is awesome and very smooth though.

    Should have went with the S8s! S10 will be fun just heavy to cruise around. You can buy hangers from Original if you do plan on getting S8. Don't buy the whole truck set up buy the hangers only. Keep the base plate on and just swap out the hangers. When I called a month ago they said $20 bucks for a pair of hangers.

    Great news, I was able to get them swapped to a S6 before it got shipped today. I come to think of it as there is really one small hill around here, worthless for S10.

    Gotta love Original customer service. It's wild, because you talk to those guys on the phone, and then you go and see them tearing it up in their videos. It's the same guys, and they're very personal with their interactions.
