    Default Isis help

Hey, I am looking to get into downhill and was wondering if anyone could share their experience with the Isis. I'm 5' 11" and 150 lbs with a size 9.5 shoe. I've been looking for the right board and researching so much I'm going out of my mind. Would the Isis be too narrow? Please help me out. I would like the board to be strictly for downhill purposes and was wondering other peoples truck and bushing set up with the Isis. I was also looking into the Switch and Nemmy. Thank you for the help, please don't be upset about another "zomg please pick my board for me!!!11" thread, I would just like to hear from someone with firsthand experience.

The Isis would be sized right for your feet. Second, the Switch, third the Nemmy. The Isis I setup for my friend had Smokies and Strikers.

Thank you so much, it was just frustrating reading a post saying that a size 10 would be fine but others that a size 9 would be too small. What do you think about Lime Zigs with 93a Venom barrels and 40* Randals?

I'm the same as you, only 30 pounds heavier. I was seriously considering selling my Evo for the Isis, but I didn't have a spare $140 laying around :/

    Just noticed something...

    Isis deck = $244 CAD
    Isis complete = $263 CAD

    ...wut

You'll learn to take other people's opinions with a grain of salt. How wide is the average skateboard? Do you see other people complaining about their width? All of a sudden it's a longboard and everyone is worried if it's wide enough lol. You'll be fine.

I got a Dervish instead for fun carving. I realized my Avenger is all the speedboard/freeride monster I'll ever need. Nothing against the Isis at all though. I just prefer my Avenger.

Yeah, that is a sticky setup. Are you planning o drift or slide at all or just straight bombing stuff?

i actually had a nemesis and felt it was a bit wide for my size 9-9.5 feet. they would slide a bit in the tub concave. when i saw the isis was coming out i sold my nemesis and bought an isis. i love the width. i think it is perfect (for me).
a buddy of mine also has a switch. it has a pretty nice width but im not a fan of the concave.

as far as downhilling and fitting a tuck on there, it is quite comfortable. thats not what mine is set up for right now though. you can pm me if you have any questions or anything. your the same size as me.

I was going to drift after I break in the wheels a bit, but mainly just bomb. I have another deck for carving and sliding. Should I have gone with a driftier wheel?

It's a skateboard there fella. It was made for someone who thinks the design is cool and wants to skate it. Don't take all the hype and mad science and turn it into some type of specific, special thing. Yeah it was built for her, but if it wasn't meant for other types of riders, Rayne wouldn't have marketed it. What's next, you gonna say only girls can get one?

Consequently, would I girl jeans improve or hinder my speed? Can I buy Brianne Davies jeans? These are things I need to know!

Improve. They would act like skintight leathers. However, your ego would fall. Unless you're... proud?

Ahhhh, and the decrease in ego is more or less directly related to a decrease in confidence level which would in return cancel out any +speed, making the end effect exactly where I started.

How could I have been so stupid!

I guess the solution to all of this is learn to be proud of wearing girl jeans.

    Thanks!

If you grow some floppy hair and get those girls jeans, you may become a faster rider. Oh also make sure you wear tight shoes. Something that will narrow your feet. Gotta make sure you fit the Isis...

Have you actually stood on one? Because I have, in fact I have 2 sitting right here for sale at my shop. It's not the width that's narrow on the Isis, it's that the foot pockets are made to cater to smaller feet. I'm a size 10.5 -11, and the concave was too tight for me, the pockets didn't agree with my feet at all.

I agree you should take things with a grain of salt, but I also think you should comment on what you have actually rode, not assumed.
