Re: what are the common mistakes on coleman slide?
First off I just got off crutches with a grade 2 sprain and it sucked! wear a light brace or wrap it for the first few weeks, you dont wanna re injure it. As far as the sliding goes go faster than you think you need to and put your hand, heelside for colmans, closer to the board rather than farther.

Grabbing "stinkbug", or in between your legs, is a common mistake. It will be less stable then not grabbing at all at higher speeds and it definitely takes away from style points. Good luck.
[urbs] 9:03 pm: rub poop on your axxles fer less flex
[PurrCrabs] 9:03 pm: no Urbs, that just lubes the bearings nicely. I clean mine with urine then fill them with a few drops of quality diarrhea for maximum speeeeed

Not doing it right is a common mistake. I could explain, but it's easier to say, if you aren't doing it right, practice more.
I actually like grabbing stink bug. It is less stable and steezy, but that's how I've always done them... I've been getting used to not grabbing at all, but I need to re-grip my favorite board and get better shoes (for 6 months).
It's FL and it's flat. Speeds make it easier. Go faster.

On your hand.
crouch down, carve heelside, put your hand down, get your butt so its not over the board, kick your knees forward
Edit: Falling is also a common mistake

I grab stinkbug too, but I also have yet to do one without ending with the board stopped :/
Think the swinging of the arm helps for momentum, to get the board back straight.
My Stimulus are only choppy at high speeds after a somewhat sustained slide. If I try to hold the board horizontal instead of letting it go 180 and stopping, it skips a bit at the end.
But yeah, I found that leaning out far will make for an easier slide when learning, but if you don't kick out your back leg or get your butt off the board, you'll just do a hard u-turn (or fall, at higher speeds).

Keep your butt up. I've always found it way more difficult to control my slides if my butt is dragging on the ground going heelside. And like someone else said, keep the hand on the round closer to you, not farther.

I'm like everybody else. I be stinkbuggin' it. I like to swing my downhill arm for some momentum before I set it on the ground. Squat low and keep your butt over the board.
Life's a bitch. And I'm her pimp.

On my hands... hence why I wear slide gloves. I also shovit my back leg out to initiate the slide.

I shutdown my rides that way. It's flat in FL. Generally, a quick 180* slide wont let you keep moving more than 5mph when you pull out of them.
