Default A flex 1 dervish with paris trucks too stiff?

I weigh about 155 and I'm looking to do tricks similar to the ones in the Schools Out video by loaded, however, not as intense and I would mostly be dancing. So I'm wondering if I was planning on picking up a flex 1 dervish with paris trucks, (and the 09 version is even stiffer because of some changes) would that be waay to stiff for me? Thanks in advance

If you don't know how flex works, just go with flex 1. You have to ride a flexible board to understand how it feels. Flex has nothing to do with tricks.

on the website they say you should ride a flex 2. if you have a sick deal on a flex one I'm sure it'd be ok. I've ridden a flex one (180 pounds) and i find it to be too flexible. you'll be able to bottom it out if you jump in the middle no problem.

Go with flex 1. You are only 15lbs away from the 170 line. The extra stiffness will help you out when you decide to go down hills.

Also, if you still growing/gaining weight/ or hitting up a gym, go with flex 1.

Cannon is right about hills. If you are doing flatground dancing and cruising, a flex 2 will be carvy, and fun, and pump like crazy. If you take it down a hill, you'll end up with brown underwear and bloody limbs.

Yeah. I bomb hills on my Dervish. It's not for bombing hills, but I live in FL. Hills around here are weak.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have tried searching but I can't really find much answers. Anyways, the flex 1 sounds promising because I'm still growing and it will be harder to bottom out if I jump on it, but I have ridden a sector 9 cosmic series board and that was fairly flexy. However, my question was if it would be too stiff with paris trucks because they bring the axle in a bit more. Also, is the 09 dervish stiffer flex change a noticeable difference from the 08?

I weigh 145 with a Flex 2 and ride hills regularly. It comes down to how comfortable you are with the flex. It's just a more flowy ride. It's not the type of board you are gonna get in a speed tuck and bomb a mountain with, but you can carve fast and rip it up for sure. I was gonna go Flex 1 since I was coming of a speed board but took a chance on a Flex 2 and am glad I did. If you can carve there is no hill too big for a Dervish.

To answer your questions though? Yes Paris trucks will stiffen it up a little by slightly shortening the wheelbase. It's about a 1/2" difference. The Dervishes with the "Key Hole" cutouts are stiffer than the ones without. They are about a 1/2 a flex stiffer than the old ones. The benefit? When an older Dervish broke in after riding it would feel softer and less lively than they were intended. This new design starts them off stiffer so they will relax to the intended flex.

If you want flex and you think the flex of a cosmic series board is sufficient, then a dervishes flex will blow your mind. Flex 1 is WAY more flexy the the cosmic series even at 155, the flex is also way more snappy. Flex doesn't determine how awesome the board is though.

Look man who ####### cares what the Loaded website says. Just cause they have "suggested weight brackets" doesn't mean ####. I personally don't like too much flex so I go for a flex 1. I weigh 145 and the flex 2 just feels like riding a limp dick. And I don't like riding limp dick hahaha.

No but seriously chose based on what you like not based on what it says on some silly website.

    PS: wrong section.

Yeah, man, you still got some growin to do. flex 1. As for being "waaaay too stiff", none of loaded's boards should be too stiff, regardless of the flex number.

What everyone is trying to say is... There is no real correct Flex unless you are on the really heavy or super light side. It's all a matter of opinion and one persons perfect flex will not feel good to someone else. When I e-mailed Loaded with this same issue they said if I got the board from them and stood on it in my living room and didn't like the feel I could send it back as long as I didn't ride it out side, and they would swap it out. That or find a local dealer and demo them.

Since I weigh around 135 -140 lbs I got the Flex 2 but now that I have gotten better and flat-topping down 5 stairs and what not, I realize the Flex 1 would've been a better choice, since I can feel the board bottom out every time a flat-top something more than a curb. Don't get me wrong, I love the Flex 2, but if you're going to do serious flat-top tricks, get a flex 1, especially if you are over 140.

i'd say get a flex one... the longer you use it, the flexier it'll get

Well, there is a distinction. Flat-tops are like a cross between the boneless and a tiger claw.
