flushmount boards?
if a drop through is more stable but easier to slide than a top mount, what does a flushmount deck ride like?
i'm 6 foot 3, and 160 pounds and i'm looking for a board i can bomb downhill but also just goof around and slide on. i would like to get better at riding switch too, so something i can ride backwards is a big plus. and do g turns, manuals, etc.
i was looking at the comet decks and i noticed the flushmounts so now its another option i have to look at in this overwhelming decision of what single board i want to choose over the others.
i really like the shape of the comet loki, sayshun crisis, landy dropwedge.
so whats up with flushmount decks and, should i avoid any of the boards i'm looking at? should i look at others?

you have the right idea. theoretically a deck thats under flush mounted would have slightly less grip/slide slightly better then a regular topmount (depending on the thicknesses of the compared decks). and similarly a dropthough flush mounted would have slightly more grip than a regular dropthrough deck.
so they're kind of like a gray area between top mounted or drop through, and drop through is like a median between a top mounted and dropped board.
Hooray for options.

Re: flushmount boards?
Stronger than a drop through, and retains more torsional stiffness.
More friendly nose and tail for manuals etc.

Re: flushmount boards?
In addition to the above post, they also handle like they would top or drop through because the trucks are mounted in relation to the board the same way.

Re: flushmount boards?
so would a drop through deck have a shorter lifespan since all the weight is distributed across 8 screws, rather than the whole surface area of the truck? wouldnt stress fractures be highly likely after a crash?

Re: flushmount boards?
well Im usually not a fan of S9's, but the S9 soldier is a pretty decent DH flushmount. My friend got one from daddies (i think for around $180) and i was actually surprised by how nicely it rides. That thing is a tank, but it can still carve/ be used as a freeride (not perfect but still possible)
I know almost everyone dislikes S9's (I dont really like them myself) but this board is actually pretty decent
