I am lookin for my first longboard. i am not new to skateboarding but i would like to start longboarding. i am lookin for a good cruiser board. i have narrowed it down to either the malakai 40 or the path 37. i know that longer boards are better for cruising but the difference between the wheel bases is an inche or less so right now i am leaning towards the path 37. do you think this is a good decision or should i get the malakai 40. i am going to get s8's and abec 11 flashback wheels so i dont want an expensive board so that i can still get the different wheels. thnxs

two of my friends have malakais and I can say that they are nice boards but the apex 37 might be good for your purpose. it is much lower which makes it easier to push. but I can say that the makakai is a nice board to ride long distance and there is a nice flex on it. with s8's it carves realy nicely. a great board. I think that the malakai is probs better than the path since IMHO the bit you can stand on is shoter than you think because of the angle the trucks turn to and I feel slightly restricted on it.
I would shoot with probably the most popular of the non-apex Originals: Torpedo 40 or Malakai 40. I'm not going to lie but I seem to enjoy the originals better with the under 37 inch boards like the terapin 34 and derringer 28 are very highly regarded.
But I mean you said you're not new to the whole skating thing so go longer than 38 inches if you want a LONGboard to cruise on.

My friend has a malakai and the totally flat deck sketchs me out at speed so I would recommend the path which appears to have some concave to it which will grip your feet a little more.

what are your thots on the abec 11 flashback wheels also would reds b better then the stock abec 3 bearings that come with the board bcuz i have reds in my normal board that i bearly ride
I have a Torpedo 40 and it's a really good cruiser/carver. I have S8s with ABEC Flashbacks and I think it's one of the best cruisers out there. You might as well get the Torpedo instead of the Malakai because of the concave. It'll keep your feet on the board.

is wheel bite a problem at all bcuz i know 70mm wheels is as big as u can go and im gunna go with the same set up and the flashbacks r 70mm

bones reds will be better but i still have the abec 3 bearings my board came with for riding in the rain and they don't do too bad, as for wheelbite Original has the maximum wheel size you can run on each board to find it go to their website, click the board you want, click on longboard components near the top then scroll down to the bottom of the page.

I don't like the sort of dead flex in the terrapin, some peopel are into that though, I like flex that pops back.
I'm a big fan of the Hybrid 35, mine's been run over and is every bit as solid as it was then. IT doesn't give you huge foot space because of the cutouts but it can give you a few different ride styles and seems pretty functional.
Get the Custom 44 if you are wanting something for cruising/carving/shreding it up. I just got it the other day and havent even steped on any of my other boards. CUSTOM 44!!

All in good condition and CHEAP!! PM me
the torpedo rocks! i have it with s8's and the stock kryptos (which kinda suck...oh well). When you get the trucks dialed in right the energy return from it is amazing! I definitely would go with that. i love my torpeo
The only problem with the torpedo is the tail. Not that its flimsy but it might snap after alot of hard use, both of my friends' torpedos tails have snapped.
