First Timer Question
Alright, so I'm thinking about getting into longboarding. I've always been interested in skateboarding but never really pursued it. I'm really just looking to use a longboard for transportation to class and cruising around the city.
Since I have no experience really with skateboarding I'm probably going to go with a complete. I'm trying to stay in the 100-200 price range.
What do you guys recommend. I'm not sure about size, shape, or anything really. So any and all advice about what to purchase or just about longboarding in general are greatly appreciated.

Mile High Skates
Or
Mile High Skates
Everybody loves the Superglider, I've never, ever heard a single bad thing about it. The Crisis is a great deal, and is symmetrical (not sure if you care about that or not).
For commuting, I'd say the 'glider is better, as it has a tail for going off curbs, however the Crisis will be easier to push, as it's drop-through (note how the deck is mounted underneath the baseplate of the trucks, instead of on top) and therefore lower.
You really can't go wrong with either of those boards.
Clutch Lamb Chop
50* Calibers

Welcome to the fish!
The Superglider is great deck and MHS sets them up great.
What is your terrain like? flat/hills/mountain roads
Have you found a deck shape/style that you like?

Well as I'm completely new I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I'm not sure if I want symmetrical or I don't, or if I want a tail or not. I'm just not sure the pros or cons of anything. I am completely new to boarding, but thanks for the replies, I'll take a look at those two boards.

I am happy to answer any questions I can.
Stay Loose,
Brent
My terrain is flat for the most part, I'll be cruising through the city and though it gets hilly in some parts my traveling around campus and to and from class is flat for the most part.
What should I be looking for in a deck shape/style?

Neither of them is symmetrical, but the Crisis is closer to being symmetrical :P

Re: First Timer Question
What are some basic things I should look for in different boards?
What shapes and sizes are best for what styles of riding? What are features that I should be looking for?
