Board Protection?
Hi! I was wondering if putting the tail on the ground, or briefly skidding the tail on the board on the ground, can over time, wreck the board? My friends do it all the time with theirs, and when they are over at my house, they do it to mine and say it's no big deal. Is this true? Over time I've accumulated a few scrapes and a slight wear of the tail, but I was wondering if that's meant to happen, or not. Also, are there protectors for these kinds of things, and if so, where do I look/how can I make one?
Also, I'm not talking about the front or tail hitting a curb, I'm just talking about from slight abuse throughout the day.

Re: Board Protection?
well the problem that could arise is that the board is no longer sealed there. here is what i would do. sand it down so the surface is smooth. buy to poly acrylic spray, and hit it with that. a couple coats will do. then take some industrial velcro, and cuttingboard, or a slidepuck. the cutting board can be cut to shape. make it symmetrical so it can be flipped. just velcro it on. so when it does wear down, you can replace it, like a slidepuck. you dont have to drill your deck, and can use the entire thickness of the tail puck, unlike store bought screw together ones. should keep razor tail at bay.
and in case you need something for the nose and tail, i and many other ppl here use automotive trim from Pep Boys. the 3/8 trapezoid for round will do, and one set will cover many boards.

Re: Board Protection?
I personally wouldn't worry about it. I have never had a board de-lam from it.
You could take flannelmans advice but just use cutting board material. It's cheap and readily available.
or
Learn how to pop it up with enough force to leave the ground without scraping.

I use these on decks with a nose or tail that might get drug. I'm a member of the camp that likes to try and prevent expected damage. The other camp subscribes to the thought that scrapes, razor tail, dented and scratched noses and tails adds character and shows you're really riding it. Pick your poison. Run it into the ground and get a new one or take care of your possessions and try to get the longest use out of it.
An extra perk in taking care of your stuff... you might decide to sell it one day. The pre-owned boards I've bought from the classifieds were bought because they did not have the typical damage. S9 Race, Pagan, Avenger and FSMmini.
