Should I buy a 09 Avenger?

So i have a hellcat with randals and s9 rfs which is a great board except that it could be more responsive. it feels a little too much like a tank, i miss the agility! ive always wanted a DH topmount and the 09 avenger seems like just the board for me. with christmas coming up and no idea for a present i thought i might treat myself.

the best part is, since i will be buying it in the usa, i will only pay 130 € for the deck and paris trucks. in germany its 230 € for both...it would be a great opportunity to save some bucks.

i expect the avenger to be more responsive and turny than my hellcat and thus offering a more lively ride which is important to me. additionally think the shorter wheelbase will make standup slides and speed checks a little easier and more controllable. i dont like the wide stance i have to assume to slide my hellcat, a narrower stance would be possible on the avenger. i would run it with blue kryptos to compensate for the grippiness which is inherent of topmounts.

one last thing is my riding style: all slides, no footbreaking, rather drift than rail corners, lots and lots of 180 slides and speed checks

what do you think: is my potential purchase justified? does the avenger offer a more lively/turny ride and more control over slides? or should i just stick to what ive got?

if you want the w go for it it. if you dont want the w there are a bunch of other top mounts with similar characterisitics.

i dont care much for the w-concave, though i would be curious to see how it feels; its the shortwheelbase im interested in.

Dude, get the Avenger. I have an 09 Hellcat too and I ride the Avenger way more. It is definitely more agile and you can get a much better turning angle on it when compared to the dropthru Hellcat. The W extends a little more into the front of the board than the Hellcat so its a little less comfortable to push, but it rides great. I have a similar riding style and i love my Avenger. GET IT!

I sold mine (09 Avenger) after a couple months, just couldn't get use to the concave on it. Not the w cave in the rear, which was cool, but the lack of concave in front .
My 08' Hellcat have this awesome radial concave which I love, but the Avenger is mostly flat with a slight w also in front, and not raised up enough on the edges for my feet.
So yeah, it sucked for me, which was a bummer.... Just to balance the GET IT! answers...

hm i even wish my hellcat had slightly more concave. maybe i should reconsider. on the other hand, if i dont like it i can sell it in germany and even make a profit!

Yeah, best thing is to buy it and find out for yourself, it really easy to sell if you don't like it.

My Avenger is sick. I was actually gonna sell it to get another drop deck for enduro racing, but I don't know that I can part with it. What Blix said about it is true, but I didn't have an 08 to compare it to, so for me it's fine. Here is what I love about it. It's surprisingly compact for the performance you get from it. I had a 36" board as my first and it just wasn't enough to feel comfortable on. I have owned a board as long as 42" which was fine but just feels like the extra length didn't provide any benefit. The Avenger is the perfect length to not feel cramped but not too big to feel like you are wasting space. It's wide where it needs to be and narrows down where you don't need extra wood. The W concave is great but I don't make full use of it since I am still working on my speed around corners. It does help however when in drop knee and railing a corner. My feet are pretty locked in. With the W my feet don't shift around as much since I can leverage my turn forces on the W instead of fidgeting to find an inside rail. As far as sliding? It's a pretty easy board to throw around. It's light and nimble which aids in that and it carves like a beast. The only downside would be ride height, but oh well. You can't have everything.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting the avenger but I also really like some the Madrid speedboards which are about the same size. Torn, but also the avenger is easier to get a hold of.

Never rode a Madrid, but that newer style Sean Mallard looks sick as hell.

No you shouldnt. Buy an 08 from sundaeskates.com for 30 dollars less. Its twice as sick and only 3/4 of the price.

08 is longer and heavier. thats really not what im looking for. i want the most nimble DH board out there and i think the 28.25 inch wheelbase of the avenger 09 makes it a good choice.

i already bought it anyways, just gotta wait till christmas to try it out!

you wont be disappointed bro, i aboslutely adore my venger. i have it set up with 50/35 prandals w/ either 82a 70mm (roundlip) race forms or 71mm 80a alligators depending on what im going to mob. both set ups grip like a mother####er, obviously the alligators are more grippy and the race forms lend to easier predrifts. the w makes toeside predrifts butter.

I am also lookin at the venger as a freeride/sliding deck with either 50 or 42 degreee baseplates and mebe some potangs. is it good for this kinda stuff?
