Buttonhead's are rounded and don't lie flush on the surface they are drilled into. Countersink screws are triangular in the head and flat on the surface. They are used when mounting a bottom mount set up as they will dig into the first ply of wood and sit flush with the board. Since you are using a drop through and the screw heads will sit on the top of the base plate and not the board itself you will want to use Button head screws.
