Original Trucks, HELP!
On Original trucks the kingpin tends to loosen itself while skating hard, so to negate this effect I used two nuts on the end of the kingpin (I know ) However, today when I tried to take the kingpin out in order to do some well-needed truck maintenance, the thing was locked in place. As well as the extra nut on the bottom. Nothing would come loose. It might have been that I just cranked it down too hard, but that thing will not budge. Anyone have any ideas or am I just retarded and there's some simple answer? Thanks!

Re: Original Trucks, HELP!
did you try using a wrench as well as the allen wrench? sometimes if you try to work on the nuts instead of the kinpin you can loosen up the nuts

Re: Original Trucks, HELP!
It might be that you screwed up the threads on the bolt, but that doesn't seem likely.

Re: Original Trucks, HELP!
Hopefully, you didn't cross thread it because if you did, you'll need a new kingpin. You might try cooling the trucks since it'd cause the metal to contract which might break the seal. You also might try heating them which would expand the metal but again, that might be helpful. Other than that, you could try spraying some WD-40 on it and see if it will soak in between the Kingpin and nut.
Once you get your kingpin fixed, try taking the bolt to the local hardware store and see if they'll can help you find back up kingpins and additional nuts in case you need them
Yup, it's been confirmed that at the company I work for, I'm officially known as "That Skateboarder Guy". I think I need a shirt or skateboard with the "That 70's Show" logo replaced by "That Skateboarder Guy".
Want list: Carbon Belly Racer, Jefferson, 2011 Deez Nutz, Spindrift, NL Mutt
Reason I'm not getting anything yet: I have WAY too many boards...

Re: Original Trucks, HELP!
You won't find a replacement kingpin at the hardware store; that's an oddball piece of gear and they won't have one.
If I'm reading right, you've got two nuts on the threaded end. You need two 9/16" end wrenches, one on each nut. Simultaneously loosen the outer nut while tightening the inner nut, just until they separate. Drop the wrench from the inner nut. Now use one wrench on the outer nut along with a 5mm Allen wrench at the other end of the kingpin. Get the outer nut off and then remove the inner nut.
Then, after you've got it apart, clean it and when you put it back together, use only one (new?) nut.. along with a starwasher under the head of the kingpin. The starwasher will solve your loosening problem without the need for the extra nut. Make sure you don't install the starwasher upside down.. the little twisted points should be oriented so that they dig in when you loosen the kingin.
.
Why are you reading my sig? It's boring.

Thanks man! I'll definitely try this, sounds like it ought to work

My local Lordco has them. It's just a 3/8" 24TPI bolt. Nothing "odd" about them.
