    Default learning steps?

Hi, I just started longboarding a week ago. I have a sector 9 ours. I just wanted some basic steps for starting out. Like, what should I master/do first? Also, my ankle and toe joints have been hurting from pushing off, what could I be doing wrong? Thanks for the help!

It depends what disciplines you want to focus on, typically i think no matter what you should learn to crosstep, it's fun when cruising and if you learn 'em right can get pretty steezy with variations. Also you want to learn to slide, probably start off with a coleman, and once you get better learn stand-up slides.

It's probably jsut that your feet aren't used to it, just keep skating and it should go away.

Start with the basics. Learning how to footbrake well and at the highest speed you ride at will save you a lot of skin. Work on simple pushing and carving as well. Have fun! You'll never progress as much as quickly again on a longboard ever!

Pushing, footbraking, carving (standing), carving (crouching), speed tucking, hard carving getting your palm pucks on the ground, the Coleman slide, early grab, and pumping.

Then as well as standing, try prone, recumbent, and sitting on the board. I'm particularly enjoying prone right now. Must be the Olympic coverage.

I just started this week, I've been pushing around my neighborhood, and going out to very gentle hills with friends. the important thing is to find a hill with a very long flat section at the bottom where you can easily foot brake.

Off the hill, I work on pushing efficiently and footbraking.

And when I'm stuck at home, I just stand on the board and get used to being on it.
