    Default newbie questions

might as well make my own topic.. umm never longboarded before, thinking of going to the skateshop tomorrow to see what they have.

i heard from a friend that they may only carry landyachts and sector 9, which threw off my plan of originally getting a gravity hyper carve, [cause i don't wanna order off the net and have to wait :P]

i am a a chubby guy, i weigh around 210 - 220, some guy suggested that i should get an evo or a dh race by landyachts but they are lowered and such. i am unsure if that would be a good thing for me since i am on the heavier side.. unless i am mistaken

the only experience i do have is skateboarding down parkades and the like getting some speed, so i wouild like a board that can cruise but i also like the idea of learning to slide so i would like a board that could do both.. any suggestions?

I would suggest not buying a board from a skateshop, seeing as prices are usually absolutely absurd, compared to what you can get on the net.

Look around at some of the board sites and see what takes your fancy!

well, i don't think the prices are that crazy, since it is a locally owned shop [my friends brother owns it] but any clues to which board i should pick?

oh and i can't order off the net, cause my parents won't let me use their credit card.. and i don't have one and i wanna get something either tomorrow or the next day..

I tend to agree with sam. If you must get somthing from a shop, and those are your only two options, i would go with the EVo if you have the cash, I am 190-200 and i ride a evo, very sturdy!!! getting this board, would be like starting at the top, and working your way there
