Can i slide on 78a wheels??

well im kinda new to longboarding and the board i bought came with 78a wheels and ive been trying to slide them with slide gloves but i just end up turning i know i should prob buy some harder wheels but i dont wanna spend the money

Wheel durometer doesn't make that much of a difference. It's mostly the shape of the wheel, and also the urethane formula. I would just keep practicing, as I learned to slide on 75a gumballs. Watch a couple of vids, and if you can, go skate with other people with experience.

78a is fine. Try harder.
I know, it's really frustrating. Remember that everyone else had to go through the same thing

Welcome to the 'Fish. You can indeed slide 78a wheels. Transfer some of your weight to your slide gloves and the wheels will break free. If they are new wheels the first couple of mm's are usually very grippy and don't slide too well. As they break in the true magic begins. With experience you can feel the wheel getting better with each run as you wear down the wheels.

Just do some hands down slides.
I broke mine in with toeside 180s (only the back two)

Switched front and back, and now they are all broke in!

If you don't know how to slide yet, then you can break them in with aggressive carving. (I have never done this method yet)

My wheels are always broken in before I get the chance to.

just do a coleman at speed. then you should get the shine off. later when the edges radius a bit you might be able to get in to stand ups . but the are some times choppy below 80a

I'm having a *itch of a time trying to get some S9 70mm 75a to slide and they are well broken in.

I hit speed so fast but the suckers never want to let go... my shin and forearm bear scars of the last attempts.

I know it can be done but *uck!!!

That is exactly what my buddy said, I'll wait until I get my motocross pads for the next attempt though... my high speed attempt melted my knee pads (I kid not, I smelt burning plastic and it was from the pad).
