Re: Need some help setting up my Kracked Skulls
What about the wheels? There are 2 crappy looking small rings already on and a nut. I am assuming I take off the nut and 1 ring then put the wheels on (bearings already in them) right?

Re: Need some help setting up my Kracked Skulls
Take off the nut, and one ring (Leave one on) and then slide the wheel with bearing on there is a bearing spacer that will slide around in there, so you are going to have to tip the wheel around until it is centered. Next put on the other ring after the wheel and tighten the nut down just until it touches the wheel and there is a little resistance, but make sure the wheel can't slide on the axle at all, but don't tighten it too much or you will damage the bearings.

Re: Need some help setting up my Kracked Skulls
Thank you. I got it all set up but it makes a rattling noise in the front and back when I ride. I did some searching but didn't find anything too great. Any suggestions?

Re: Kracked Skulls Longboard
just buy the complete, they are quality parts for sure, a great beginner board. abec 11 wheels are probably the widest bought brand of wheels, good stuff.

Kracked Skulls
Hey, I was thinking of getting a cracked skulls Scimitar or however you spell it. I have some questions. Can it handle speed? How flexy is it? What trucks does it fit? I like kracked skulls and there prices are crazy based on the fact that I've heard people say such good stuff about them. Thanks

Re: Kracked Skulls
I have some questoins...
1.Would it be a good board for someone like me, who is 5'6 and weighs 115 lb ? I am probably going to get up to 120 this summer, if that makes a difference...
2.And I heard that putting grip tape on boards ruins the flex or something? So whats the best alternative to make the top of the board grippy?
3.Since the stock comes with Abec 5 bearings, would it be advisable to buy Abec 7 bearings and upgrade it? Would it make much of a difference?

Re: Kracked Skulls
It will be fine for your weight, I weigh 110 and it's fine for me. You can put grip tape on or put it on in squares or star shapes like 3"(search "vanguard regrip") or you can do silica sand and polyurethane. The bearings are perfectly fine. They don't matter too much.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Ordered the Kracked Skulls Scimitar and had it in my hand within 6 days or so. Set it up with Randal DH Trucks and Pink Reflex Gumballs. The kid likes it alot.
I've stood on it and it holds up to my weight, which is greater than all you all, trust me.
Great price, great service. It isn't as "slick" or polished as a mass produced board but then again we were looking at function not art graphics.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Is it true that I can ask the owner of Kracked Skulls to not print the logo on the bottom?
And is there any full tutorial out here on the web with picture that can explain how to put together the board once I get it?

Re: Kracked Skulls
Got to love the Kracked Skulls. Just got done with a 19 mile trail up Provo Canyon. Took me about an 2 and a half hours. The puppy cruises. I was passing other longboarders about every other mile.

It can handle speed, guys have taken it over 45mph I believe. it has noticeable flex, but nothing like a Loaded board. It's not stiff like a speedboard, but it's not springy like a Loaded. Enough flex to be fun to ride.
For trucks it'll fit...Randals? Haha I'm not sure what else you'd want to put in there, email William and he should know what will work if you are thinking a specific truck.
As for the grip, for $10 I believe he will do a clear grip job (not sure if it's silica or what it is specifically, but it's not a tape). Just email him once again and you shall find out.
He is a great guy, I haven't dealt with him but I have seen how well he treats his customers. I now have 5 or 6 friends who ride this board, and several other people who plan on ordering (or who are currently ordering) a KS board.

Is it safe to paint the bottom of a Kracked Skulls once I get it, and make my own design? Any specific paint? would it hurt the board?

You'll probably want to sand off the clearcoat/varnish and then you can paint or stain it. I like the look of stain since it allows the wood grain to show through it. Then reseal it afterwards.
If you look around in the board building forum there should be lots of info available, a lot more than I know that's for sure. All the painting techniques are pretty universal to longboards, so anything they say should work on your KS (as long as they aren't talking fibreglass for instance haha).

Re: Kracked Skulls
griping it wont "ruin" the flex. it will probably cause the grip tape to crack cuz the grip tape cannot flex. it could bubble and peel off easily.
