If you look around in the board building forum there should be lots of info available, a lot more than I know that's for sure. All the painting techniques are pretty universal to longboards, so anything they say should work on your KS (as long as they aren't talking fibreglass for instance haha).
i wouldnt even sand the clearcoat before painting as long as it is an even smooth coat.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Hey ya'll,
I have two KS boards and they are both stock. Easy to put together, there's instructions included with the completes.
I love the KS, it's my favorite ride and I have several other boards that are now being ignored.

if you wouldn't sand it down first then cool, that's your deal, but let others search and decide for themselves what the correct way to refinish a board is.
shugar: what you've heard people talking about are flat washers. the curved washers that come stock with Randal trucks can shred the bushings if you tighten them down too much. flat washers eliminate that problem. if you can't get your hands on some flat washers, just flip the curved washers upside down and use 'em. don't worry about getting new bushings though, chances are you won't even notice the difference unless you're an experienced rider.
also, grip won't "ruin" the flex on a kracked skulls board as far as I know. I know for a fact it isn't recommended on Loaded boards, but they have a lot more flex to them than a KS board. I would suggest emailing william (KS owner) and asking him for his opinion before slapping a sheet of grip on the board.
as for all the other new questions; read this thread from page one. all your questions will be answered
Is it possible that I could just ask William to send flat washers instead of curved washers?

It never hurts to ask ;D The cup washers are what Randals ship with though, so it's not his choice as far as what kind of washer to put on. Chances are he has some flat ones laying around though, and he might just throw em on for free. Maybe =D

Re: Kracked Skulls
Well this is what William, the founder of kracked skulls had to say about the flat washers...: "You only need flat washers if you flip the hangers." what does this mean? this was myoriginal questoin: People say that the curved washers are a problem in the stocked m1.?
does this mean there is no problem with teh washers?

So does that mean i still need to get some flat washers and replace the stock ones with the flat ones?

Re: Kracked Skulls
I really don't think that guy really knows what he's talking about. He just threw together some wood and fiberglass (and did a good job at it). I love his boards but he really doesn't study anything I guess.

If it's a rush fix...just flip the cupped washers as to not hinder the bushing's function! Why Randal continues to orient the kingpin the way they do, and to use crap cups is beyond me!!

Re: Kracked Skulls
why are they so cheap?
well if you buy your supplies in bulk, you save lots o' cashola. as a manufacturer and/or distributor it's up to you as to how much profit you want to make from that point on as far as jacking up the price goes. ie: make a product for 5 bucks total and sell it for 20. William either doesn't mark up his gear (much), or has found a source that gives him sh!t for free
i'm thinking "fell off the back of a truck" discount here...

I've got two KS boards and the bottom line is, not everyone has to charge a ton for good gear. For example, Tierney boards...you can just buy them outright for the big price (239) or you can rent one and get it for 159. With Dregs, you can contact them directly and get a real deal on boards. With Gravity you can get the yard sale deals.
There's some cool folk out there helping us get into really good gear. William happens to be one of them and the KS boards are freaking awesome. I just rode mine yesterday for 15miles, and today I'll take the other smaller board to Washington Park in Albany.
Only thing is, I wish I had some chicks to ride with. Oh well.

is thier i reason why they are so cheap, i was gonna buy one for speedboarding ?
