yeah...not a good choice for a first speedboard. There is a speedboard in the works from KS but I would not recommend the M1 or Scimtar for a speedboard. They are however a ton of fun to do some high speed carving on...i've taken mine comfortably to 30-35mph on a really technical course. Once you go down into tuck though, things start gettign a tad squirly because the flex start messing with you.

I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.

How much do you weigh though. The boards flex could be different from rider to rider depending on how much they weigh.

Re: Kracked SkullZ?
Yeah, that's a good point...I weigh 175lbs. I also like to ride my trucks almost to the point of being finger loose on that board. Granted I also ride my DH trucks loose. I still stand by my statement that if you're looking for a DH board, you'd be better off looking for something other than the M1.
That should mean something coming from me seeing as how I'm expected to do as much as I can to promote KS. As I said earlier...fantastic carver and cruiser...but not so much as a speedboard.

I weigh 170 and couldn't agree with you more. It is a great carving board, and a lot of fun. It does get squirrely and starts to feel unstablee at a certain point.
How do you do, young Willie McBride,
Do you mind if I sit here, by your grave side
And rest for a while in the warm summer sun,
I've been walking all day and I'm nearly done
I see by your grave stone your were only nineteen,
When joined the great fallen in 1915
I hope you died well and I hope you died clean,
Or Willie McBride was it slow and obscene?

Dude, the Loaf is cool but KS is in a class of his own.

Re: Kracked Skulls
so I'm thinking about getting a longboard, and after reading almost this whole thread i'm pretty much sold on this board, the only problem i have is the size of the board, should i e mail him and ask for maybe a 40 in or 38 (i'm 5 11 135 pounds) will i have any problems because of my weight? I see people riding this are around 170

You're good with the 46". I'm your exact same figures, and mine pumps like a wet dream.

I'm a dork! I clicked on Loaf and was wandering all over that site. Think of Dori in Finding Nemo...
Anyway, regarding the weight issue, I weigh 135 and am 5'8, the M1-46 works fine. It's got a little flex even at my weight.
What's the Scimitar like? I haven't seen those yet, I know they are William's latest design.
Can you post a pic?

Re: Kracked Skulls
i emailed him and asked him to custom make me an M1 at 40 inches, he said that he cant do it but instead i should get the scimitar edition, here are the specs.
The cost is $154 and it comes with the Randal RII 180 trucks, abec11 gumballs at 76mm and 78a duro, oust moc7 speed bearings with spacers.
Add $25 for 83mm Flywheels, add $10 for permanent quartz sand job.
he sent me pictures to if you want,

so it is 4 dollars out of my price range but i think that i can make an exception, should i get this board? is it simmilar to the M1?
thanks

Re: Kracked Skulls
How would a ks work as a speedboard if you weigh like 145 punds?

Re: Kracked Skulls
Woah, those pictures look different than the Scimitar pictures I've seen before! Is it a newer model or older pictures? The piece of wood separating the Randals (which look like 150s or smaller) is way different.

Re: Kracked Skulls
it's the new scimitar
risers are now bolted on
-
Re: Kracked Skulls
so if i get the scimtar board, will i be able to slide still? Or should i get new wheels? thanks
-
Re: Kracked Skulls
^ you can slide any board/wheel you want.....with practice.
pretty sure I don't like that new scimitar design though. personally i think the "bolt" parts would effect foot placement, and i don't see the advantage of having them set up in that way. still a rad board though, and i still love mine.
photonic: i posted some picture of mine a few pages back, but i'm too lazy to look so i'll just post some more in a second when i find 'em.

Re: Kracked Skulls
so a while back in this thread someone said they got a 38" board custom made for em
i was thinking about doing this because i dont want a huuge board. i want something that i can strap to a backpack and walk into a store comfortable
i was thinking a 38 would be a perfect size for me
what are your thoughts?
