That 38" Scimitar is a super fun ride. Pumps so nice and can dodge people like that's what it was made for. I haven't had a chance to take it down any hills yet (since my friend kinda likes riding his KS down hills...I wonder why), but I will need to do that next session with him. It feels like it should be pretty stable if you're nice and mellow with it, but it's so responsive I bet it could get twitchy really fast if you tense up.

Re: Kracked Skulls
This thread has sold me on getting a KS board. I'm looking for something thats good all-around, but slightly geared more towards bombing hills and garages. Should i be going for the M1 or the Scimitar?
Also, i'm about 5'6 140lbs, so what sort of length would be best? I've got a 39' Earthwing Superglider right now, and it's not bad, but definetly a little too small for hills.

I was also wondering what the differences in the ride of the two boards is... I undertand the physical differences between them, but everyone has been writing good reviews of the scimitar but is the m1 better than the scimitar for some things?

Re: Kracked Skulls
In the direct comparison I did, the Scimitar felt like it had more snap to it...a better feel in the flex. The components are also better in the Scimitar.
There's a fairly big price difference, so it's up to you. The Scimitar is definitely a better board/setup though.

well it's not like i wrote a bad review of the M1....i just like the Scimitar a lot better
the Scimitar seems to have a snappier, more responsive flex and feel to it. also, having it set up with offset 76mm gumballs compared to sideset 70mm flashbacks makes a difference as well. but if we're just talking about the deck by itself here, then disregard that
Billmac - the length is up to you. currently William offers the Scimitar in both 38" and 46" lengths, but you can easily request a custom size as well. i've ridden both the 38 and the 46, and they're completely different in my opinion. i'm a tall guy with a wide stance, so i found the 38 to be a bit cramped, but damn, that thing can turn on a dime! since you're around the mid five foot range, i'd think the 38" would be just fine for you, should you choose it. if you want to do things like bombing and garages i would go for the 46" though; the extra length and width will be your friend.
or you could go for something in between like a 42 or 44 and let us know how it works out...

So are you saying that, assuming money is not an issue, people should buy the scimitar every time? Or in other words, the only reason to buy an M1 is because it's cheaper?

it's not that the M1 is a bad board, I thought i had made that clear before. The thing is that the vast majority of riders who are new to the sport will not notice the difference between the M1 and the Scimitar. in that case, the M1 is better for beginners because it is a more cost effective way to get started. however, for the more experienced rider that will appreciate some subtle changes, the Scimitar would be the board of choice.

Thanks, that's what i was lookin for. I was not trying to say that the M1 is bad, it just seemed that everyone decided that the scimitar was better. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the extra money to buy the scimitar instead of the M1.

Yep, it's not that the boards are different enough to own each (in the same length). The Scimitar just feels a bit better.
However, you could easily own both a 38" and 46" KS and not feel guilty at all...they are that different.

It's like people only do these things because they can get paid. And that's just really sad.

Here's the pic the dude from KS sent me. It looks pretty similar to the regular M1 to me.

there have been several pictures of the Scimitar posted earlier on in the thread. have a peek a couple pages back and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

yes, but you can do certain boardwalking tricks on just about any deck if you're skilled enough. i don't find cross stepping a problem on my 46" Scimitar, but keep in mind it's meant to be a very turny deck. it's less than idea for learning on, that's for sure, but if you know what you're doing you can pull it off
