Re: Kracked Skulls
I haven't spent any time on flywheels other than cruising...haven't pushed them hard.
As far as I've seen though, flywheels have more of a drift than the grip characteristics of gumballs. So the flywheels along with the KS being dropped through should make it drift quite nicely.

i prefer gumballs on a scimitar
flywheel-scimitar (garage experience only)
by no means are flywheels drift-specific wheels, but together with the long wheelbase it's hard to stick a line

i'm still not sure if i like those new drop risers yet....

Well I am just getting into this and all I have is a skateboard with longboard wheels at the moment.. my friend bought a custom M1 with flywheels on it here in the forum, and here in orange county, there are garages all over the place, I went once this past week and got hooked. Anyway, I still haven't gotten into the whole drifting thing like my friends or anything but who knows where I'll be in the future.
So maybe gumballs will be the way to go.

Careful of using any wheel over 73mm and anything centerset on the M1. According to Mr. Yowell you will have wheel bite if you do. A kid riding some big 3dm wheels on his M1 experienced some bad wheel bite the other night at the garage and left him with a big ole bump on his noggin! Stay with the 70mm flashbacks (side set)or maybe even some 70mm zigzags (offset) if you want something similar to the gumballs.

Well, I was talking about the Scitimar which just happens to have a more narrow nose so you can use larger wheels, such as gumballs or flywheels, I personally will probably go with the Gumballs and a KC Scitimar setup

My buddy's 38" Scimitar has the quartz grip as well...similar pattern but still different. The front 1/3 of the board has those checkers, then the rest has 2 lines going down the length of the board, close to one of the sides.
At first I thought the grip was all splotchy and bad, then I realized it has a pattern. And the dirtier/more used it gets, the easier the pattern is to see.

the black and darker blue is griptape. the red and baby blue is paint. everything that isnt griptape has been polycrylic'ed w/ non slip so the whole board has grip

I'd like to see photos of a 38" Scimitar if you have any, if you have any next to a 46" M1 .. I'm a smaller guy around 5'5" and 125-130ish lb. and wondering if I should go with a 38" Scimitar, I want the longboard feel of course (cruising wise), but at the same time I want some performance for my size, my friend has an M1 and I really like it, but it is a tad bit long, I could def go for shorter than 46" 8)

not many folks have had the chance to ride a Dervish yet, so you might be a while in waiting for that comparison. what I can tell you is that personally I find the Scimitar rides a lot better than the M1 if you're experienced enough to be able to tell the difference.
Don't worry about buying a Scimitar and having a "better" one come out either. personally I think the one I bought a few months ago looks better than the "new" ones he's got with the larger risers on them. I can't speak 100% on Williams behalf here, but what I believe he means by "not fully defined" is that he hasn't got it tuned to a fine art yet. he wants to make sure he's got the best board possible before releasing it to the public, that's all.
go ahead and grab one, you won't regret it

I don't have any photos of it right now, but it is about 1" narrower as well as being 8" shorter. It is very stiff compared to the 46".
I am 5'10"ish and I can comfortably stand on it, although when I widen my stance my feet are right where the cutouts start. At your height the 38" should be great, but don't expect it to flex much/at all under your weight.
It is also a very different feel than the 46", a lot (A LOT) faster into carves and really zippy that way. It pumps better too. But the 46" feels more stable and more carvy rather than twitchy.

Finally come back and go to pick it up from the post office and this stupid china lady wont give it to me cause I ordered it using my old girl's credit card.
Layed some kungfu and she finally gave it to me...
Soo sweet for speed carving compared to my sidewinder! My mate had never ridden a longboard before and he was bombing hills @ 45+kph before too long. Admittedly he was very lucky at times no to get peeled up by the road.
Its so damn stable! Sort of hard to pump such a long board, I have to hell kick up to speed before I can pump good. Its so good to be able to carve at 50kph and remain so stable where I would be in DH/preying mode on the sidewinder.
Very stoked. Can't wait to find something that bridges the gap between the two boards... or get a sweet speedboard and start chasing some cars!
Stoked!
EDIT: Just took the sidewinder out for its first run since I got the KS. Man I understand why you folks call them minis! The sidewinder feels the equivalent to walking on stilts. Got to get rid of them risers...
Whats a solid smallish slalom wheel thats super fast? I want to get smaller wheels so I can ditch the risers. Thinking of 66mm Zigzags.
PHOTOS!
