I just dunno how many inch of foot space can be used on the 40'' or 43'' M1. Can ne1 tell me?
as far as you ppl here told me, I might just ignore the tighter turning radius, but still would be thankful to some words about the 40'' version ^^ (I dont want to bother william with my noob questions )

right now, Im very thankful for all ur helpful reviews & tipps!!!

here ya go dude...........i cant say much about the 40" but heres the foot space riser to riser on the 43"
its about 30.5" and from riser to nose/tail is 6 inches on each side
dont overthink it too much man just grab a KS and immerse yourself in the stoke
    good luck!!

I'm looking at this board as my first board. Either the M1 or Scimitar, probably the M1 because it's cheaper. But I can't figure out the length.

    I'm 5'6 150lbs. Suggestions?

I'm about the get the M1 too as my second board. I'm around your height and weight; 5'10" and 140lbs. I went for the 43" because I want a little extra foot space for dancing. The 40" is already a good size but I think you might like the 43" because it'll be easier doing cross steps and etc.

Thanks. Are the shorter boards as thick as the thinner boards? Or do they vary.

One would think a shorter board would have less flex because of the lesser surface area and weight distribution.

Get the Scimitar. I just had a hill bomb session yesterday. The board is soooo stable when you need it to be but can get a flat land pump going when you need it.

I am totally going to. I have been in communication with Will. One thing I am concerned about is the boards flex. Will offered to make the board thicker for me at no extra charge.

    I can't decide between a 38 or 40, and a thicker/normal thickness board.

Again, 5'6, 150lbs here. First board.

    Halp?

I am not really sure why you would want to make it thicker. I ride a 46" and I weigh 200lbs and find it perfect. If you were to take a shorter board make it thicker and give it to a lighter rider I think you are gonna end up with a tank. Flex is good, embrace it.

    What's the disadvantage of flex?

According to Will, flex is a function of width, not thickness. So I have a decision to make before I order tomorrow. What length to get, and whether or not to make it 'firm'.

I plan on using my board for transportation around my city. Maybe learning a few easy tricks. I am not plan on doing any insane downhill racing, or much downhill, if any, at all. Yet I am not comfortable with a really flexy board. Why? I dunno, I guess I am just afraid of snapping it/bottoming out while carving. I'd also like a board I can carry on my back if need be.

I did a test William told me to do to measure my stance. I had my friend shove me from behind and I ended up with a sturdy 20" stance. He says add 15-20" to that. So I came up with a board length of about 35-40"

So it's either 38" or 40" for me. And whether to make it 'firm' or not.

As well, I need to get some good grip tape as I plan on customizing my boards grip. Suggestions?

Thanks to all of you for your help, it's much appreciated.

Flex is fun and your first sentence, whether it came from Will or not is just plain wrong. Unless you want a park/pool board or a downhill board, I think you will regret getting a board without flex. Making it thicker will also make the board heavier to carry on your back.

That settles it, flex it is!

Now, What length to get? I have done some research and from what I've read from riser to tail/nose it's 6" on each side, so that's minus 12" of use able space on this board.

I am thinking the 38" might be too short. So now it's 38/40/ or 42". Suggestions?

I have a 42" Scim. It has about 25" of usable foot space between the risers. I'm 190lbs, and the flex is fine. Not saggy at all. Hope that helps some.
