Wow reading this thread sure was a relief for me.

I found the m1 on ebay while looking for an inexpensive longboard online and i decided to check out their site. What can I say, for 105 US for a board with randles and decent wheels...I was sold, and my buddy ordered one aswell because of the price. Huge selling point but I was worried because nothing else seems to be of that quality and at that price so I though maybe there was a downside or weakspot.

All the positive vibes in here make me even more antsy now to get it! Shipping out yesturday but I live in ontario so i dont expect it for a week or two.

BTW, Im extremely new to longboarding and so is my buddy so these are our first boards.

Im wondering about putting down some grip tape on it, can I do it myself or should I take it to a skate shop to be done? By the sounds of it, people in here send them in.

You can grip it yourself quite easily. However the board is pretty wide so might not be able to find a sheet wide enough. You can use two sheets and leave a blank slit down the middle of the board for style. You can also print off/draw pictures on the back paper of the grip tape, and put crazy grip designs all over the board. That's what I'd do, make your board look a little more unique.

Just try a search on here or google, and there should be plenty of tutorials on how to grip your board. You will love the KS, it's a great deck.

I saw the sneak peak at the grip tape when you just had the black laid out...but wow. That is all I can say. That board looks incredible. One of the best grip jobs I think I've ever seen...

    That looks really amazing.

Again, noob question...The back paper of the grip tape? Is it sticky?

I'd really like to personalize this board and one thing I was thinking was a stripe or two in the griptape.

Again, to my bro who submitted the detailed slide advice, it is very useful and I thank you. I have to swing the wheels around. Now I understand the physics and the question is, can I learn to do this physically?

I have one more question: How much weight do you have to put on your hands? My wrists are pretty slender and not that strong I hate to admit. Slim bones and strong muscles. Wrists and ankles not so hot. I wear wrist guards under my slide gloves...

    For the new guy:

You can order 10inch longboard griptape from Daddies. You can order different colors in 8 inch widths for variety, they have camo, blue, purple, pink and everything else.

It's fun to do your own board, that way you feel closer to the ride. These are super high quality and really well designed boards. We are getting in on the ground floor so to speak which is why the deal is so good. The next board will cost more but still be way reasonable in comparison to the rest of the world, and have even better bearings (I have a set).

What I like the best about these boards is that they are made in Utah, they come equipped with the best parts and they are well-designed. Meaning they ride like a freaking dream. That's quite a lot of bang for the buck.

I know you'll enjoy your boards and you have made great decisions since these are your first boards. I wish I had been as smart as you are, I wasted a lot of money on boards that were not as good.

    Peace,

    Jules

I have to head out real quick so I can't give you another fully detailed answer...I will do that later on if noone else has.

The weighting is the exact same as holding yourself at the top of a pushup. It is like a static pushup. The stress is just keeping your arms straight, my wrists are fine. If anything my torso gets stretched during these slides, so stretch hard before you slide.

Yes you can practice the motion without the board...but it's hard to do without knowing how the board will react in your mind. Once you've done it a few times on the board you'll know how to push the board out, and it will start to become automatic.

Last question till i actually get the board...i promise!

im 5'6...is 46" going to be overkill for cruising? i'd be going down roads late at night (less cars to hit me ) and just pounding the pavement (lots of going down relatively striaght paths while carving a little back and forth).

Hey everyone, first post here on Silverfish =D I'm new to longboarding and I'm looking at buying on of these boards (GREAT price point for a poor college kid like me . The only thing I'm a bit worried about is it holding up my weight. I'm pretty tall, 6'5" and 195 lbs, so I was wondering if there would be any problem about the board being too weak for me? And while it's a ways off skill-wise, could you pump with this board? Thanks =D

I weigh 230lbs and it has no problems with me. I got tired of trying to pump it in its normal setup. I have the trucks mounted on the bottom for now with the front wedged 15 degrees, and it is a pumping machine. Once I get the nod from the wife I'm buying a dedicated LDP and will remount the trucks drop-through on the KS.

I'm just wondering why this couldn't be used as good DH board? I mean it's droptrough so it has a low center of gravity, if you get the sphincter you can get pretty big wheels and it handles pretty well. Whats it missing that LY, Rayne and other speed boards have?

...Uh...yeah...it's definitely a Scimitar...Good job on insulting my board. Just don't be surprised if it rolls to your house and kills you in the middle of the night for calling it a sphincter...Gross!
    Who DOES that?!
