I take my 38 scimitar on quite big hills and the M1 is just as stable. I wouldn't say that the M1 would be more fun for cruising and carving because on boards 40" and up I really prefer having 75mm wheels. The M1 only has a little more room, so unless you are getting it as a budget junior dancer I would say the scimitar is a much better choice.

Re: Kracked Skulls
I am getting a Rapier, (I am a big guy). It is not on the web page yet, 15 ply. 46" and Gumballs. I ordered it this morning. Will be my first board. I have sent William emails in the middle of the night and had very fast responses. So far the customer service is top notch. If you want some thing done email him. I asked for some thing for my size and what I wanted to do with it so that is what he recommended and that is what he is going to build me. I am very happy so far and he has had the best price I could find any where for what I wanted.

Re: Kracked Skulls
I have a scimitar heading my way soon (once the echeck clears in a week..)
I asked William about putting the fiberglass on the bottom instead as that would make more sense strength wise, if he can't maybe I'll sand a layer of wood off and put in on myself.
I was wondering, could I put the big wood riser on the bottom? It looks kind of weird, but I could probably deal with it. I am aware it is used for tortional stiffness but is there any other way?

You might be able to put the risers on the bottom, but the scimitar has metal washers on the bottom side which are meant for the screws to come in from the top. If it works, more power to you. If not, you'll love the board anyways, the Scimitar is an amazing ride.

I don't think you can put them on the bottom since they are risers so your best bet would be to throw them away and buy other risers?

Re: Kracked Skulls
Hmm.. The screws could still come in from the top, it would be the same distance, I'm just wondering how it would affect flex.
Khonsu- I could always get regular small risers and get longer hardware, I'm asking about putting them on the bottom because the reason they are so big is to reduce torsional flex (Twisting of the board if I'm right)

I didn't realize that the screws would be in the same direction for some reason haha.
It should work just fine if you do it that way. The board will be slightly higher, but the flex should be roughly the same. Maybe a little more saggy, but don't quote me on that.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Probably not, but you can always email the dude who makes them....
You could probably also ask for a customization for them to fit....

Re: Kracked Skulls
Well I warn you the Scimitar is pressed with the risers included cause when I took mine apart for painting the rises themselves were curved like the board.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Hey guys, I haven't read all 50+ pages of this thread (or however long it is haha)
but I am wondering if anyone has been riding their KS for a while (1 year +) and have you had any problems? I have heard only a few stories of boards lasting many years, and a few of them breaking quickly. My KS Scimitar is breaking, like to where it isn't safe to ride it anymore, you can check out my thread called Kracked Skulls Scimitar Breaking. and here's the link to the pics: Pictures by washwarrior - Photobucket
So just wondering, you KS veterans, how are your boards holding up? (please don't be like "oh i've had it for 3 months and it's been great", I want to know about long term)
Thanks guys! (and sorry I just realized I totally jacked this thread, but its an open thread right? haha)

I've been skating my Scimitar for two summers now, and this summer I've been riding it really hard.. it's holding up, no signs at all of any breakage. 4 people I know own M1's, and they're all holding up as well, 3 of them have owned them for two years, the other for a single year.

Depends what you want, really..
I can say both flashbacks, and powerballs work well with the M1.
I need a new idea for a sig.

Re: Kracked Skulls
So I've had my Scimitar for about a month and a half now. I loved it at first, but I've gone to parking garages, hills, flats and more. This board is a great beginning board, but I'm already limited. It's an extremely heavy board when compared to others and it's extremely difficult to manual with the longer sized boards. Plus, mine hasn't even been roughed up much but two cracks have formed from simple bumps into rails or walls. Cracks, not just chips. It's a great board for beginners, but since I've pretty much made my stance that I'm staying in longboarding, I can move on. It sucks that there are no longboarding shops in Sacramento *that I know of anyway* and the only one close to one has 4 models of Sector 9 at any given time. I have no way of checking out boards in person to see if I like them so I rely on the 'Fish
Onto Legendary, I'm skipping the Loaded phase altogether. For those that can ride Scimitars and do everything, awesome. I can't

Re: Kracked Skulls
my new 42" scimitar came in the mail thursday. black randal 180s with lime zigs.
its sounds a little rattley but everything is tightened down.
i just put the oust bearings in my wheels today and they sound like someone is faintly rattling a chain. are they just not broken in enough? or are they broken already.

Re: Kracked Skulls
I top-mounted my Scimitar last week and finally got a chance to take it out today. I like the board a lot as a drop-thru, but I was bottoming out when I'd carve super hard.
I'm a heavier guy so it has a good amount of flex, and that combined with the top-mounting makes this board ride like a dream. I took it out for about half an hour and rode the **** out of every hill in the area. Very fun, very satisfying.
