For me, 42" would be perfect. My neighbor had a 46"...
goddamn that thing was huge.
but then again he was like 6'7"...

I'm 5'9 and 130lbs and I rock the 42''
No regrets here with it but it is alittle challenging to carry around in smaller college buildings. Scimitar has a bigger wheelbase than the M1 and alot of people consider it the "evolution" from the M1. It's awesome for what you pay for...

Re: Kracked Skulls
Straight from William of KS, Scimitar and M1 are the same deck. Cutouts on Scimmy let you run any size wheels you want. Go Scimitar. My first was the 46". Later this summer I got a 38" which initially felt a little small. However I topmounted that 38, it was still low and suddenly a blast as I didn't have to worry about toe bite.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Hey, I just got my 38" Scimitar! I want to paint it before gripping and riding it though. I know that after painting I should put a few coats of polyurethane on it, but how do I get it to be smooth/polished? It's coated in polyurethane originally but it's still rough and I don't want the finish to be like that. And I'm also wondering how the flex of the board will be affected by all this. Thanks!

Re: Kracked Skulls
Once you're done with your painting, hit it with a couple of coats of Rustoleum Crystal Clear. I tried several different clear sprays and ran into a lot of fogging if not perfect conditions. Plus it was never the clear really deep shiny look I wanted. Rustoleum Crystal Clear rocks.
congrats on the 38"

congrats on the 38"
Thanks! Should I do the polyurethane before the Rustoleum Crystal Clear or is that unnecessary?

Re: Kracked Skulls
Has anyone mounted an M1 or scimitar on Indy 215s or MHS hybrids?
Just curious... and saw some posts by lefthanded about doing it a few months ago.

Re: Kracked Skulls
Ok I thought i knew what board I wanted until I stumbled upon this thread haha
The price of these is whats drawing me in.
im 5'6'' bumping 135
Im now considering a 40'' Scimmy.
I may be asking for too much but I want a cruiser that I can also do some noob DH with.
Think I can get this with he stock trucks on the site or should I buy all that seperatly?
sorry for spelling in advance.

40'' or 42'' scimitar should be fine. I feel like this board excells at being a cruiser with some DH capability. I find it difficult to do some tricks on this board because of the overall weight and the risers (keep in mind I've only been riding for just under 2 months). Randall 180's I've heard nothing but good things about and I have no complaints at all... Alot of people say throwing on some venom bushings make a world of difference but I'm satisfied as is.

I'm pretty much the same height/weight as you, and the 40" is great for me. It's not really a DH board, but I've taken mine to 30mph without much problem.
The trucks and wheels he sells on his site are at pretty good prices. You probably won't find a much better deal for new stuff. The only thing I might recommend different is the bearings. I would get a set from Mile High Skates, along with some new bushings (new bushings heavily recommended).
Don't forget to use a discount code "NOVA", or "LUCKY" for 5% off.

One or the other, really. The first deck I ever customized was the 46" scimmy. I did several coats of polyurethane on that one. Since then though, I've settled into doing everything with rattlecans and like I mentioned, I've found the Crystal Clear to be the easiest and most consistent results and gives me the deep, clear, high shine. That's a personal thing as I understand some people don't like the shiny finishes.

Re: Kracked Skulls
I'm set on getting a Scimitar, but I'd like to do my own art on the board. I posted a note within the shopping cart a couple of days ago (requesting to leave the clear coat off), but I see no signs of life from the other end...should I just go ahead and get the board, and sand the bottom? Should I shoot the owner an email? Do any of you have experience with this? Sorry, I realize this isn't KS Customer Support, I'm just antsy.

Re: Kracked Skulls
When you order there's an option to (forget how it's worded) to NOT apply the KS decal. Also whether you want the spray on grip or not. Skip the grip and don't apply the decal (which will still be included though). That's it. You don't have to sand this down bare and I wouldn't recommend it anyway. His coating, which isn't heavy anyway, acts as a nice base coat for what you're going to. The first one I had spray gripped. The 38" I didn't. In both cases, I just went over the decks lightly with very fine sand paper and started painting. Go for it already!
