Don't worry, once you've paid your debt (and aren't racking up more sins) everything will smell like roses.

KrackedSkulls are basic finishes on a tried and true design. It's not super-hyped-high-end-finish or mass produced graphics and finish like SodaFactory or LandYachtz. You can ride 'em as received or pimp 'em out. I've got a 46" and 38" Scimitar. Purchasing was easy including an email exchange with William on the first one (46). Shipping was el Pronto. I had a blast pimping them out and have enjoyed them both for over a year now at anywhere between 209 and 235lbs.
While you're at it... Landy? I got the Dragon and Chinook from them direct with no problems. A Switch (forget who from.. maybe LBS) and the Stout from the classified. Win, Win, Win and Win again.

repeating myself from elsewhere... I ended up topmounting the 38" and it's fun factor when way up while still being a low low rider and that's on Paris no less.

Go spend 2 or 3 hundred on some custom, shiny, glossy, exotic wooded, unobtanium filled core with gas pedals and 3 different caves from the alphabet... and cry when it breaks, scratches, delams.

Or go get some KrackedSkulls, personalize it and enjoy yourself. Pretty good formula really.
I must have been actually I was a little pissed of with the amount of time it took landy to warranty my dropcarve but anyone who has had lanndyachtz warranty anything has been pissed off about that(about 2 months). Earthwing I was the happiest with (see def completely happy). I just was really kinda shocked to see the difference in build quality (when you can barely put the board together because the holes are drilled so far off, and dont even get me started on the plates he sends out with rapiers to reinforce the top of the trucks because they were even farther off than the drilling of the board. Guys look I know some of you love yours I just think there are alot better alternatives out there. On a side note I got thrown off my dropspeed yesterday at over 25 (gps said 27) and have a rib cartilage injury and can barely breathe. Man who did I piss off.

Sorry to hear karma Vanstomped your ribs. Hope it's just sore and not broken AND you heal up nice and fast.

I can't speak to exercising real or alleged warranties. Not with skateboards anyway. I've had Ford, Toyota and Target all three on their knees goveling for the opportunity to make things right. After sending in my wife that is. You want to borrow her? Send in a pissed off little Asian who's 2nd language English takes a downward spiral as her blood pressure rises and it's not long before she has a manager and not much longer after that, that she gets what she wants. They don't have a garage and beer to escape too.

Since yes, I do have them both, I'd like to keep them both. Shapes are similar but they're different rides. Part of my decision for the ESM was previous EW experience and loyalty, part of it was bandwagon, part of it was it being a new model in the EW lineup just when I thought I had a complete EW quiver, part of it was the finish and graphics. To ride them how I want with the setup I want (or have available) they (ESM) require tinkering or modification. "They" being the 8 and 9 ply on hand and the V2-9ply enroute.

Scimitar was the the 3rd deck I got if I remember right. I could barely push on my Chinook and a PoolKing. The Scimmy scared me at first with the flex. Two months later I tried it again and had that "WOW! This is fricking cool!" moment. The 46" was the first deck mod I tried too. I liked it so much I got the 38" last fall just for a shorter version and also for the finish and graphics (pimping is fun and addicting). Plus I've had 3 different trucks on them and put whatever wheels I wanted. No problems. That turnkey type operation has it's merits.

8ft, boy is that board just a beauty.

I am so SOOOO glad that I let you talk me into buying the Scimitar. I could not have made a better choice. itll be about 4 months in a while and im just starting to slide and man is it fun. I have even ridden others boards but nothing can compare to my baby. Anyone who is reading this and is considering buying this board. Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my overall thinking of this board. It lets you get a good idea of what area of longboarding really fascinates you. and for me I feel in love with DH. So I now know that I wanna buy a new DH board so I will be making another purchase of actually another board that i think i heard you owned 8ft. A Deeznutz (id love to talk to you about that sometime if possible).
The Scimitar is a great learning platform and just a great board period.
I love it the highest degree

QFT (in part). This says it much better than I did and was closer to what I thought I wanted to say.
An economically smart choice to do it all on or hone your choice of riding styles. Then get a board and setup specialized for a discipline.

Thanks for the comments. Glad it worked out for you. Deeznutz is good but the 2010 version about to be released is better. Soda Factory has mellowed out that aggressive concave on all of their rides. It'll be much more comfortable for carving. Check 'em out.

would a Scimitar w/ Randal 180's and 86a Stims be a good setup for carving/dancing/sliding?

the glass is supposed to stiffen it up. i'm looking at getting a 40 in M1, and im wondering if it is necessary to add glass if i want a fairly stiff ride (also more durable would be better). i heard the 46 in is pretty flexy, but idk how much of a difference the smaller size is. I would get a scimitar, but at this point in my life the 20ish dollar difference is pretty big for me, and i only want to use retro freerides.
EDIT: is there any difference between the m1 and scimitar other than the size of the cutouts (apart from aesthetic differences)?

46 is flexy. No 47" hypercarve or hustler but it's flexy for 230. Of course it tightens up as the wheelbase gets smaller.

Scimitar is fine and fun for cruising.

Scimitar can run any size wheel, M1 is limited to 70. Only diff.

The grooves would make it more flexy. The KS ones are weird. My42" is way more flexy than my friend's 38". If you're going to buy one use "deca" as a discount code too!

alright ill get a 40 in m1 with extra glass so its a little stiffer and hope that 72 mm wheels work...if the only difference is wheel size, i almost always run freeride type wheels which are usually on the smaller side.

But why limit your options? You never know... you may change your mind or maybe you and your deck have a sesh opportunity on a rough or trashy road/trail. If you have the Scimitar... BAM! Slap on some 83mm Flys or Obombers or something and you're good to go.

The grooves don't make the deck appreciably more flexy. Longer decks cut from the same stock will feel flexier than shorter. The width (which you can customize) makes the biggest difference in flex.

    @chrisd:

For the record, a Scimitar is roughly $80 shipped. If you factor in the cost of grip tape, you can say the deck is $90, which is still much cheaper than any other symmetrical dropthrough carver out there.

And seriously, you were intrepid enough to sand off the quartz grip, but couldn't figure out you could take a drill to the mounting holes?

well all the roads around me are pretty smooth, and i couldnt just 'slap" wheels on there, i would have to buy them first...and i dont have that kind of money (im a sophomore in highschool and i spend most of my money on guitar stuff). If i really wanted bigger wheels i could just make the cutouts a little bigger. Does anyone know if it is worth it to put the extra fiberglass in it? would it add to the durability?
plus i think the m1 looks cooler...

I am thinking about getting the scimitar, but Im thinking about how you paint the board. How do you it? Do you use ordinary paint or some special paint? And what do you put on it so the paint so wear off? I am considering buying scimitar only If I know how to do graphics on it. As the board looks sort of plain to me.

Would paint cover up the logo no problem? Just trying to decide whether to opt for the no logo or not.
