    Default vanguard like snowboarding?

as of now I ski :[ but I am going to board this season and I tried out a vanguard for the first time the other day. I told the kid who let me try it that it had a really funky feel and I felt a lot different riding it and he said that's kinda what it feels like to snowboard. Anybody ride one and able to vouch for that haha I'd love to know.

i find that the feeling of longboarding and snowboarding are Totally diffrent. But the skills used in longboarding can be applied to snowboarding.

I don't think that it feels like a snowboard.

It is too responsive to feel like a snowboard. The board carves very deep and very fast, and also has a bunch of camber and flex. The flex however has a different feel than snowboard flex because it's between your feet instead of at the nose and tail outside of your bindings. Carving hills a certain way on it can feel quite similar to snowboarding, but no the deck itself doesn't feel as much like snowboarding as some other boards I've ridden.

the guy that builds them used to build snowboards. they actualy have a very similar flex but to make it all the way like a snowboard it woud depend on the trucks and wheels too

I'm in the same boat--lifetime skier, longtime skateboarder--and they're both similar and very different.

You turn skateboards and snowboards in roughly the same manner--you lean into the turn with your ankle--but skateboards are significantly more responsive and don't slide nearly as much. There's also that whole bit about being strapped into a specific stance.

If you strap into a snowboard you'll be ahead of the vast majority of the other beginners, but you'll have a way to go.
